"In the City of God there will be a great thunder, Two brothers torn apart by Chaos, while the fortress endures, the great leader will succumb, The third big war will begin when the big city is burning." - Nostradamus 1654
Has somebody posted this yet??
I usually think this stuff is funny, but if this is the accurate quote, then it's quite interesting about the similarities to the situation... The "two brothers" part is eerie, but the rest of it is so general that it could relate to any attack on any city that leads toa war... just thought I'd show you guys.

Who is supposed to be "the great leader"?
i dunno about nyc being the city of god. no offense intended, of course....

you don't have to like him for him to be the great leader. right now, like it or not, gw bush IS the great leader. i am not saying i agree or disagree. but he is in the same way that any other president...by leading this nation

That is so vague. It can't be wrong. "Two brothers torn apart" could be city gates, arguing leaders, the WTC (not likely), or two organizations like unions or political parties. There has to be conflict fo chaos.
By no great stretch of the imagination is NYC "The City of God". Maybe Vatican city, Jeruselum, Mecca, or Islambad, but not NYC.
For something to be remembered, something has to endure. Might as well call it a fortress, that's as good a name as any, after all it's still standing. Otherwise no one is around to remember that a prophecy failed. This is a pretty safe bet.
Leaders fall all the time, especialy in a war or disaster, another safe bet.
Third big war? Let's see... Mongol invasion, Crusades, Revelutionary War, US Civil War, WWI, and WWII. Looks like we are over three already...
Nope, I'm not going for it. It can fit just about any major disaster.

All points are good, but it is interesting.

True, not likely, but they were torn apart by chaos.
By no great stretch of the imagination is NYC "The City of God".
Agreed.

True, of course, but the WWs had to start for some reason. When I see World War, I think BIG. Something like this COULD (look at all the support that we have from other countries and the support that the terrorists seem to have from some countries, being hidden as they are) lead to a World War, witch would be World War III.

that's wierd...the first thing that came to my mind when I read the words, "two brothers torn apart by chaos" were the WTC towers. It would be interesting if he predicted the towers' fall in such language. But maybe not...It's all fun and games anyway. Not the tragedy of course!! I meant Mr. N!!

Well, it could very well be that the terrorists know of Nostradamus' prophecy and chose the towers so that it will fulfill the prophecy.

It seems kind of strange to me to compare N's predictions with the WTC incident. In addition to many of the connections being a bit questionable, it's not like the towers just crumbled...they were intentionally brought down. Like, if he predicted that a certain tree would collapse and it did...that would be impressive. But if somebody kno was aware of that prediction went and cut the tree down, it wouldn't be anywhere near as impressive.
I guess what I'm getting at is that a prediction of a certain act being fulfilled is not very amazing if that act was committed to fulfill the prediction.
Not that I really think that's why picked the WTC...
... Although this isn't the first time somebody's tried to knock them down...and instilling terror in peoples minds is after all a function of terrorists.
Now now, don't cut this up to pieces, it was just one of those ideas. And it's 3:30 for god sake. Good night.

Okay, I have been reading a newsgroup about prophecies. It is really creeping me out big time.
Check out the posts here:
Google Newsgroup (http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&group=alt.prophecies.nostradamus).
Creepy...
Also, reading the newsgroup led me to another website by a guy named John Patrick Ennis, who goes by the alias Sollog. This guy really freaks me out. Supposedly he predicted a bunch of things, such as the WTC attack, school shootings, Princess Diana's death, earthquakes, and other stuff.
The scariest thing is that he talks really strange. Like an old man with no eyeballs with a long beard. I mean, if you have something to say, say it normally! You don't have to say crap like:
"Wall Street will crash!
People will flee major cities!
Gone will be the way of life in the USA forever!
I WARNED YOU ALL OF 2001!
NOW OBEY!
OBEY THE TORAH!
MOVE AWAY FROM BIG CITIES!"
He warns of nuke terrorism as well. Makes you think. If he was accurate with the other incidences, could he be too far off with this one? Anyway, here it is:
Sollog's Website (http://www.sollog.com)

i know, most of you are thinkin, hmm, kinda interesting (i am too.) but for those of you who are genuinely freaked out:
nostradamus was a genius. his predictions are masterfully created to make them really fit well in retrospect. but PLEASE at least stop to think about this: if you have ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE what he's talking about until after the fact, can it really have been much of a prediction?!?!?
so this prediction works well if you think of NYC as the city of god - okay. but would you have, on ANY day prior to 11 sept 2001, if asked "name a world city that could best be described as the city of god," answered friggin NEW YORK? no.
two brothers torn apart by chaos - yeah, the each, individually, got all tore up, but they are still right next to each other - the two brothers have not been torn apart, but are still together. you could call turning into smithereens "chaos," but then again, the attack was planned. just saying this isn't the most stunning correlation i've ever seen. if he really did forsee this, wouldn't there have been a better way to word it?
and whether W is a great leader or not... i haven't seen him succumb to anything yet, and i doubt we will during the course of this crisis.
while the fortress endures... what? the white house? the rest of new york? yep, they're still standing. whatever.
the third big war - if this is labelled "world war three," okay, it's a nice fit. but i doubt it will be. and if it isn't, then it is the third of WHICH three "big" wars? king leopold of belgium killed 10 million congolese in the late 1800's - i'd consider that at least as big as wwii and BIGGER than wwi. also please remember, if this does not get labelled wwiii, that nostradamus's prediction wasn't that good... remember that the next time someone presents you with a prediction that "makes you shiver."
or, if you just want to believe in it, and are waiting for the REAL two brothers tearing apart and 3rd big war... i can't help you.

why is everyone bashing nostradamus? he's dead. dead is....dead.
if he was alive today then he may be able to tell us what he wrote. then again, maybe not. it all came to him in verse. he didn't write from his own brain.
and before anyone decides to shred ME for this...do you believe in the bible? do you believe in anything? belief has basis in things which are not known or proven.
i'm not saying nostradamus was right or accurate. he also never said "world trade center," "george w bush," "new york," or any of this crap. so saying he was wrong is like saying any other prophet was wrong. if you try to trash someone in retrospect, it's not so difficult. especially if that person is dead.
oh, before i forget....."duh"

i may be just talkin out the ol' sphincter here....but wasn't the calendar recalibrated at some point? so what is now 2001 should actually be some other year? it could be earlier or later.
maybe he just heard prince's song in his head over and over and decided that 1999 was the year. then again, i prefer to party like it's 2 yrs ago

it has been recalibrated since his death, maybe more than once... the time that i know of was by 11 days or 14 days or something like that.

Something like this:
In the year 1999, seventh month
A great king of terror will come from the skies
He will resurrect the King of Angolmois
After which Mars will reign by good luck
There are, of course, many many other interpretations, most notably some which argue about the original placement of a apostrophe in the document, therefore changing "king of terror" to "paymaster". Still weird.
Yes, the calendar may be "off" by a few years from Christ's birth, but I would think that enough people use it as is, so that's OK. Besides, our calendar isn't the only one in use in the world.

i'm gonna feed the fire here. this is direct from nostradamus text.
The New City
The new city contemplating a condemnation,
The bird of prey offers itself to the heavens.
After victory pardon to the captives,
Cremona and Mantua will have suffered great evils.
Earth-shaking fire from the center of the earth.
Will cause the towers around the New City to shake,
Two great rocks for a long time will make war,
And then Arethusa will color a new river red.
At forty-five degrees, the sky will burn,
Fire approaches the great new city,
Immediately a huge, scattered flame leaps up
When they want to have verification from the Normans.
The king will want to enter the new city,
Through its enemies they will come to subdue it
Captives liberated to speak and act falsely,
King to be outside, he will keep far from the enemy.
Garden of the world near the new city,
In the path of the hollow mountains,
It will be seized and plunged into the Vat,
Drinking by force the waters poisoned by sulfur.

i only see a couple of lines here that make sense - anybody else care to interpret farther? i'm not going to flame, i think this is fun and interesting, and i would just like to see some creative interpretations of things like "victory pardon" and "two rocks" making war...
a friend had this in his away message...
"flights that were Highjacked were from United and AA, numbered as follows:
11, 93, 175, and 77
11 = Today's Date
9+3 = 12 = Tomorrow
1+7+5 = 13 = Thursday
7+7 = 14 = Friday
Hopefully this is a coincidence and the terrorists can't add. but if this is correct there will either be acts of terrorism every day for the next few days or a grand event the last day"

ok a thought.
my bible studies were a long time ago but(hope im accurate) the arabs and the israelies share some basic lineage(long after adam :P ). They separated into different tribes and according to the bible God choose Israel. Other tribes of the 12 different brothers mixed and eventually became part of other races. Israel is fiercly independent and could be one of the brothers and any arab nation(they all pretty much hate the jews) can be construed as the other brother. There is a lot in revelations(and daniel, etc i think) about end times and wars and mass destruction but youd be foolish to claim to understand it. One thing i do think (seems to be popular among the bible scholars), is that that whole war torn region is the key. When war breaks out there and the US is heavily involved(we are now) than it could signify end times. Of course if your an atheist, etc than its all just nonsense anyways....Imagine that, no heaven no hell

Precisely.
ok, everyone can talk crap about nostradamus' predictions. we still don't know what he meant, and he is not here to tell us. the tragedy is what we are upset about...not the accuracy of this great man.
most people forget that he was a physician as well. he helped pioneer modern methods of hygiene and sterilization. he is credited with saving thousands from plague in his time. prophet or not, he was a genius.

I think your friend has a great imagination. I think these flights were selected because they were:
- Domestic flights, for less security
- Heavily traveled routes, for larger planes
- East Coast to West Coast, for maximum fuel load and minimum usage
I don't think they would sacrifice any of these in order to get numbers to show some sort of pattern.
Incidently, yesterday was chosen because on September 11, 1922, Britan passed a resolution to establish a Jewish state.
