I'm sorry to hear that. :(
My roommate's sister was supposed to be on the American Flight from Boston to LA...she's a flight attendant. She didn't go because she called in sick.
Right now my bro-in-law is stranded in NYC without any means of getting back to LA (so he can catch his flight back to Taiwan). Its gonna get expensive for him...its $200 bucks a night at the Sheraton.

i never realized how many aspects the tragedy from all this has. First you have all the deaths and destruction and all the sadness of stuff like that. Then you have a strained economy. Baseball games, landmarks, theme parks and a lot of other places closed. Airlines of course down. And yes, then there are these people who are gonna have to pay these high prices to stay in these hotels... aside from the fact that they cant be home right now:( .

it's like someone took a baseball bat and **whack** to your knee caps...then **whack** to both your arms...you don't know how vitally important something is until it's gone.

The trains (Amtrak) are now running everywhere.

Perhaps he can take a train to SF or LA. That way he won't have a hotel bill, he can "see America" and likely things will be better by the weekend when he arrives.

excuse my ignorance, but aren't the airplanes supposed to be paying for the hotel/motel says of the people stranded, or at least I thought that's what I had heard, like yesterday..

i got two stories

I go to school at CSS in duluth, MN
its a typical college town with 5 different schools

one of the schools across the bay at UWS i know a girls <friend of a friend> who was interning in NY and was supposed to work in the WTC the day of the attack.
she stopped at work <on the ground floor or near there> to get a cup of coffee and realized that she had forgotten her check book at home a few blocks away. she quick ran home to get it and as she was walking back to the WTC the first plane hit. shes okay, tahnk god

another one
i ahve a freind at UMD <another school in the area>
a relative of one of her co-workers was working on the 9x <ninty-somthing> floor when all this was going on and wrote an email right before the tower collapsed to say i love you and good bye.
it will be printed in the schools paper tomrow

It is just like insurance policies. There is a glaring exception ("terrorist acts, acts of war, riot, civil disturbance", etc) Because of this, they have no obligation to do anything.

To all those who have lost loved ones, and those who simply have empathy for the massacre that just took place:

I send my condolences; I don't know what else to say. My English class was expecting a friend of our teacher to arrive in LA. He was on one of the hijacked planes. I'm really pissed. I wish you all the best of luck in the days to come, cuz I know this is really tough. Please know that you're not alone, and I feel for you. I know that my loss pales in comparison to yours. I don't know how you feel now, but I'm sorry.

Good Luck,
Ryan

That's so cool of you :) Thanks! I wish I could get a hold of him and tell him that. He was only able to get one call out to us on Tuesday to say he was ok...haven't heard from him since :(

Did u hear what happened to the Amtrak train that was going through Utah? It hit a freight train! Seems kind of fishy to me...gosh, its almost not safe to take any sort of public transportation nowadays.
