Activision sent us new screenshots taken from the upcoming multiplayer test for Return to Castle Wolfenstein. The test, which will be available this Saturday from the official Return to Castle Wolfenstein Web site and GameSpot, will feature a single multiplayer map from the game.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein is set during World War II. Players assume the role of B.J. Blazkowicz, a US soldier on a mission to stop the secret plans of the Third Reich. The game's multiplayer mode, which is being developed by Nerve Software with assistance from id Software and Gray Matter Interactive, lets players engage in team-based battles between Axis and Allied forces.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein is in development at Gray Matter with assistance from id Software, and it is scheduled for release this holiday season. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game, and be sure to come back later today to see a new in-depth preview of the game.

The Wolfenstein demo is now out, but I won't be able to download it until I have my T1 installed in my apartment on Thursday. D'oh! Anyone want to play after that?

I like this game! It's a little laggy on the internet...but it's playable. It's fun being the sniper and seeing another sniper trying to get a bead on you and you getting him first. Makes you feel like a crazy awesome sniper! :D

Whoa - this game rocks. Fired right up on W2K with my middle of the road PIII 600 and TNT2. Runs good at 1024x768, and the doco says HW requirements will be less for the release version.

I especially like how you can switch teams and classes in the middle of the game. I'll be buying this one when it comes out. I'm off to play now!

Just to let you know.. This game has to go through an extensive compatiability test to be approved.. ANd it should be pretty stable.. usually Activision will not release a Demo with easy crashes or anything.

I agree with it being a bit laggy but other than that it's been really fun to play. The flames coming out of the flamethrower is cool, you can shoot it up in the air and make fireworks. I can't snipe worth jack in this game, it'll maybe take 3 shots to kill someone but in TFC or CS or DoD I'm a really good snipe. Anyway, I kinda like it, especially the lieutenant class, they can call in airstrikes and use the binos to call artillery fire.
