what's irksome about craisins is the implication that sticking "-aisin" on the end of a word makes that thing a dried, shriveled replica of its once plump and juicy former self.

senior citizens could be called "citizaisins."

ROFL

Now i remember, i did try them but they are too sweet, i tried the ocean spray ones and the kirkland ones, and my teeth hurt because they are so sweet, i expected for them to be sour... i didn't know they were called craisins though

Since they just decided to rename prunes as "dried plums" (due to the stigma of prunes), why don't they change the name of raisins to "dried grapes". At least it'd be consistent. I'm all for consistency (and of course, "dried plums" are for constipation :) )

i damn near lost it when i heard this.. i was speaking with someone who works for the plum growers, or something along those lines.. too funny.

i believe though, that the two are different: prunes still remain prunes, dried plums are something similar, but distinct. i'll have to ask my gf about it tomorrow. she visited growers in CA a bit ago on business and they were one of the groups lobbying.

No, the whole renaming thing is just a marketing ploy. It is a particular kind of plum they use to produce prunes, or, "dried plums". But they wanted to get away from the old "...is a few enough, is six too many?" idea that has plagued prunes for so long.

By the way, since I got my post edited and reposted before you got your reply in, it is your responsibility to correct my quoted text in your reply. :)

Yeah, but I think it's been called "Prune Juice" (and probably still is - Dried Plum Juice just doesn't sound like something you'd drink).
