I started seeing flashes of light in my periferal vision. I called my eye doctor earlier this evening and he told me I have to see him first thing in the morning. He says if it's what he thinks it is, I might have to get laser surgery if it progresses. He also told me to call him at home if I get massive floaties (seeing things float about inside my eye). I'm kinda scared.

I have had that before too....most of the time it is nothing but it is something you do need to get checked out.

Dont worry...yet...

Several things can cause this. Likely the most serious is a detaching retina. However, when I had this it was caused by iritis (an inflamation in the iris - I got it in both eyes at the same time). Iritis is far less serious than a detached retina, but still nothing to mess around with, as ignoring it can lead to permanent damage to the eyes.

Rev. Evil - let us know how things turn out. Of course, if it is iritis, part of the treatment is to keep the eye(s) completely dialated for over a week  so it might be hard to do much online work.

Good luck Rev. Evil. The first thing I thought about was retnal detachment. But it could be other things. See your eye doctor soonest!!!

Ooooh, he IS evil. I KNOW he knows we're waiting to hear how his eyes are, so he's INTENTIONALLY not telling us anything, just to make us suffer in suspense.:P

hmm doesn't previous LSD use also cause similar stuff? lights in periferal vision, trails, etc.

if you start to be able to move objects with your mind, it might be a gigantic brain tumor in the shape of a hand

It's as good a theory as any... :P

heh, sorry for not replying sooner.

My optomitrist did a dialated pupil test to look for anything torn, some holes, etc. He didn't find any. so he told me it may be caused by something else in the back of the eye doing something (i forgot what he said it was doing). But he said if it is that, it'll heal in a few days. but he said to make sure that I call him if i get "floaties" in the eye or a curtain effect going on.

After seeing him, I visited my mom at the doctors office she works at. She called up a opthomalogist friend of hers, and had her take a look at my eye. She thinks that it might be vison migranes. She thinks that I might be having that rather then something being torn or pulled or whatever because I had a series of Migranes when I was around 7 (It's interesting what they put on file). She say's if these don't go away soon, I might have to goto a doctor and get checked out / get migrane medicine. Luckly, she said vision migranes are usually not accompinied by pain :) (although it can :()

Oh well, I feel a little better. But I'll be happy when it goes away.

If you lived in a state with legal Medical Marijuana, you could smoke some and it would relieve the pressure in the eye balls.

and if you smoke that...a whole lot of other things will not swell.
