View Full Version : Unconventional warfare?

When one nation uses a form of unconventionl warfare it is expected for the other to respond in kind, not necissarily with the same kind of warfare though...
In Desert Storm George Sr. threatend Iraq with nuclear retaliation if he used chemical or biological weapons.
Terrorist attacks, Jumbo jets, civilian targets. These are not conventional weapons. Does it justify a nuclear response?
We can't send suicide bombers to retaliate. We don't work that way. If they had nukes, they wouldn't hesitate to use them on us. Unless of course the got to experence them first hand. Then would they use them? Doubt it.
So here is my question. Should we use all the weapons we have available to us to fight against this unconventional enemy?

I hear someone people say they do have nukes. If, in fact, they do, why would you say that us nuking them first would prevent them from using them on us?
Nuclear warfare still carries the ultimate psychological warfare. We have no weapons (that we know of) that devastate a location more than a nuclear attack. I mean, in short, it means you've been given the ultimate screwgie, and might as well do everything you thought about doing before, but were scared to do. At least, that's how I'd approach it.
Therefore, if get nuclear on them, and they have, in fact, purchased black market nuclear materials, would you be prepared to see, say, the Empire State Building disappear in a ball of light? I know I'm not prepared to see that.
Lookit, we went through this whole nightmare in the 80's. Let's not go down that primrose path.

nuclear warfare is NOT an option. It should never be. We've screwed this planet up enough. I don't see the point of doing it any more. Besides, I don't want to wake up one day to a land that's been scorched. Assuming I actually get the luxury to WAKE UP from it.

I agree. Nukes are not an option.
Keep in mind, if you use a nuke, you don't just hit the people around ground zero. You hit everyone downwind as well. And everyone who lives in the area for decades.
You might hate the Taliban. But do you hate them enough to drop fallout on the Pakistanis? On the Indians? On the Chinese? Do you hate the Taliban enough to condemn non-Afghanistanis to radiation poisoning, cancer, and birth defects for decades to come?
Do you hate the Taliban enough to condemn people born ten years from now to those things?
Nukes are indiscriminate. And to use them, you need to hate so clearly, so powerfully, that you are willing to condemn thousands of completely innocent people to suffering and death for decades to come, just to kill the ones you hate.

The last time the WTC was hit, they got Bruce Willis and a bunch of roughnecks to take two Space Shuttles loaded with nukes and blow them to bits. perhaps this would work.
Oh wait, that was a movie and it was about an asteroid.
Ok, nevermind.

I thought I’d give him the benefit of the doubt, but with every post he manages to show his true colors.

At least he has a real reason for hating the people who did this so much.
The bright side of the whole thing is that nukes just aren't going to happen, unless the Taliban does something realllll stupid (like chemical or biological warfare).

There should be NO reason to hate people who had nothing to do with it. You wanna hate someone:
1. find out who did it
2. put all your hate into them
DO NOT misdirect your anger to innocent people. If you do, your no worse than the people who commited these acts.

I doubt America can win a war against Afganistan, Russia and Britan tried for 10 years and no luck, so I believe mass destruction is the only way to go. You guys should understand Afganistan is full mountains, and that is nothing to bomb, US missiles will be useless, and I doubts marines could do anything in those mountains. So that is only one way that is left. Or DarkFury's idea I guess could work, all I am saying is that America won't win this war, the same way is we did in IRAQ.

Kenas, the difference is that a good part of Afghanistan also wants to get rid of the Taliban. They are already in the middle of a civil war. We would not be going in with the whole of the country opposing us. The Taliban is not terribly powerful. And, when Afghanistan was fighting the USSR, it was with our support.

Area 51:
everybody knows bout that secret military base where weird stuff happens right?
well personally i think its the center for all of our secret weapons. I think its where they do all their testing and designing...
I mean think about it... if the government had secret weapons and things... do you think theyd let us blabber mouth americans go and tell it to everyone we know? When we had the nuke, the design got out by the chinese stealing it so why would we want our new weapons to get out.
I think a lot of the new technology comes from the Aliens too http://www.mpz.co.uk/cwm/otn/alienz/abduct.gif like all those flying craft. Maybe we have some cooooool alien technology we can use on em :heh:
