As I was driving near Boston this morning, I saw my first plane back in the sky. It actually kind of scared me. I couldn't help but wonder if that plane was actually going to land at the airport.
Each day, I wake up hoping what has gone on in the past few days has been a horrible horrible dream. I know I'm not the only one who feels like that. I realize how lucky I am to have not have been personally affected with any loss of lives. I didn't hear from my one my friends until late Wednesday, but she was OK. I can't imagine the terror and horror that she and my other friend felt as they watched the planes hit and the towers crumble before their own eyes from their work places across the Hudson in New Jersey. I know how terrified and shaken up I was, and I was 300 miles away.
My neighbor, who is like a second father to me is still stuck in Canada. It took many hours on Tuesday before we knew where he was. Hes there with 5,000 other people, and none of them have their luggage. So since Tuesday, they've been wearing the same clothes. He planned on going to Walmart to get some new clothes yesterday, just as they got struck by the remnants of the hurrican. So hes still "ripe" as he put it. Hopefully he'll be home by tomorrow, but who really knows. They don't know where they'll fly him into, and they don't know when.
