Arg! Can't get my Sidewinder 3D Pro to work on my bro's machine. In the game controller device panel, it always says its 'not connected' but if I set it to standard '2/4 button joystick' then it works. However, the joystick will 'drift' like crazy. I've installed the latest drivers/software from MS, (3.02) and I even tried the .vbx patch, all to no avail. My relevant specs for the machine:

AMD Athlon 1Ghz
128 DDR
GeForce 2MX w/ 32MB
Win98se

Thing i dont understand is that the joystick works perfectly fine on my other machine:

P3 450Mhz
192 Sdram
TNT2 w/ 32MB
Win98se

anyone w/ suggestions? I wanna play Freespace dammit!!! :mad3:

What type of mobo is it? Also are the soundcards different on each machine? It could be the one it doesn't work on it has some malfuntions in it.

Try plugging the joystick into the port on the mobo...I'm making this request becasue I had a sound card in my mobo and I tried to plug all my sound stuff into it...and that didn't work...so I plugged it into my mobo ports, and that worked. don't ask me why, I guess windows detects the mobo one first...beats me on whats going on with that.
