I am so sick of some of the people on ebay.
I can't tell you how many times I have been screwed
over by sellers and annoyed by bidders.
Anybody have similiar experiences? Please share so I don't
feel so alone :( I only continue to use so I can get
rid of my old stuff before I move and buy certain items
for really cheap. <sigh>

You got that right. I was looking at what was purported to be a '72 Porsche 911 someone was trying to auction off. The description clearly states that "everything's original!".
The dumbass proceeds to provide pictures of the car, half of which show items that have clearly been replaced (i.e., black hood grilles instead of chrome). I e-mailed him with a mild confrontation, and the seller sheepishly admitted not *EVERYTHING* was original.
I just wish these scuzz buckets would take their crap and go back to trying to dupe senior citizens or something.

I haven't had any problems. I research my bids and am paranoid about everything. I only make small purchases.

i always ask the sellers detailed questions, and if i have any doubts at all about the answers, i don't buy. i've had good luck with bidders so far - one guy who wasn't happy with the condition of a book i sold him, and he was being overly picky, and wanted to know about my "return policy" - he paid $2.50 shipping and $2.50 for the book. i woulda refunded $2.50 for him to pay $2.50 to send it back. so he winds up spending the same amount of money for not having the book as to keep it. which i guess he knew, and was counting on me to do what i did, which is refund $2.00 of the purchase price and he keeps the book. but i was very nice about it, even though i thought he was being stupid (he saw photos of the book and i described it really carefully) and he said he would even leave positive feedback, so i guess that turned out okay.

I look at sellers' feedback, ask questions, etc. but I have still gotten jipped. As for buyers if it doesn't fit or they don't like it they get mad at me, even though I use good pictures and describe the stuff honestly. Plus I tell them off the bat both in the auction description and right after they "win" the item, no refunds unless insured and broken or lost. I already pay a crapload in fees to Ebay, I can't afford refunds. Blah. I have had people lie and say I haven't sent the thing, etc etc. It's so much fun. I am so sick of this crap.

i had one guy who claimed to be a computer specialist and he bought a hub and a jaz drive from me... then he e-mails me back and says that none of my stuff works... to make a long story short
he tested the hub by unpluging his old one and connecting computers to it (without restarting or anything)... and he said that nothing worked.
and the zip drive he said he unpluged his and it didn't work... so i had to explain to him that his jaz drive is a different model then mine and therefore uses a different SCSI card... of course he didn't know this (some computer specialist). In any case he left me neutral feedback because he said although the stuff didn't work i seemed honest.

Yeah, when I sell things on eBay i ship it out the same day the money is received (even if it is a check, unless it is an expensive item). Also, I often upgrade them to a better shipping method at my expense. I package everything extremely well. I get so pissed when someone doesn't leave feedback.

I sold 2 Viewsonic monitors on there recently, $400 each. Went smoothly, and I got to keep my third monitor only having to pay $20 outta my pocket. I know I got lucky though I have heard some horror stories.

I got mad at a bidder for taking too long to pay up...
HE gives me bad feedback for not being patient.

Yeah, i really hate the fact that ebay doesn't even let you dispute feedback unless you pay their dispute resolution company (safeharbor). Especially with the fees they charge to sell stuff.

nefertiti ... it sounds like you are selling clothes? i don't know where you are, but there might be a used clothing store in your area... there's one here called plato's closet, and so long as it is still in style and gently worn, they take it, cash on the spot. i'm takin three bags full today. i'd probly get more for it on ebay, but i've decided that the people buying clothes on ebay are all psycho (excluding me, of course...) and i just want the crap out of my closet.

Thanks for the tip WL. Unfortunetly I live in the boonies, so there probably isn't one near by. But I will look into it.
How did you guess I sell clothes? haha. I guess the "if it doesn't fit" comment gave that away. Yea some people that buy used clothes are indeed pyscho. I had this one woman one time...she bought a cow print shirt from me haha. It was brand new, I got it on sale and was trying to make a profit. So anyway, she bought it from me and was mad that I paid $7.99 for it (the tag was still on to prove it was new mind you) and she bought it from me for $20 something. She also said it wasn't big enough. She wasn't very nice about it, so naturally I wasn't willing to be nice in return. I told her I didn't put a gun to her head and make her bid that much, the shirt was exactly as described and I do this to try to make a profit like 99% of other sellers. Then she leaves me GOOD feedback haha saying "Great shirt! Thanks!!!" hahhaa. oooook, can you say schizo? I sell jewelry and other stuff too, but I am mostly concerned with getting rid of old clothes before having to move next spring or summer.

I paid $50 recently for what I thought would be a registered version of AUTOCAD to half.com, a division of EBay. I received the item in the mail and it was a copy on a Circuit City CDR disc. Half.com sent out a questionnaire about three weeks later asking me to rate the transaction. I told them what happened. The seller then Emails me and tells me that his description stated that it was not original. However, it stated "Like New" when I went back and looked st the posting. Supposedly, half.com is trying to resolve the issue, but I doubt that anything will happen.

Sheesh they should give you your money back and suspend that person. Not only was that misleading but that violates copyright laws. I have seen people can suspended from ebay for copying cds and trying to sell them.

Usually, they'll do something about that type of stuffs...cause of software pirating thing....
perhaps calling autocad themself, and telling them that someone's pirating their software and selling on half.com?

it always amazes me that people will so blatantly try to get away with selling pirate copies in a totally public and traceable manner. i wouldn't let that go - i'm sure a quick email to makers of autocad would generate some interest. just give em all the info you have.

lots of people. theres a lot of stuff that is new with tags still on, ppl are just too lazy to return catalog orders. there's stuff that's barely been worn, like kid's clothes. (i've purchased in both of these categories.) people sell handmade stuff from other countries for cheap (i am still trying to convince myself that i won't look like a total poser if i buy and wear a handmade indian salwar kameez...) and there's really nasty old crap, and STILL people buy it.
do you hit enter after every line you type?

It is a TIME machine, not a time TRAVEL machine. Therefore, it is a legitimate item (i.e. it has mechanical clocks which tell time)
People just don't read (like the PS/2 box people)

People will buy used underwear for crap's sake. Seriously I have seen them do it.
I have also sold USED makeup on Ebay haha. I sanitize it of course. I guess they figure it is cheaper than buying it new at the dept. stores (and it is a lot of the time).

Oh yea! Go look under personal grooming: makeup and a lot of the stuff has been "gently used"
I got a Stila lip glaze with a gift certificate I got from the Co. retails $24...the color wasn't right for me, so after using it a couple times I sold it for $10.49 plus shipping. Yay!
Also about the underwear you have a point. I thought about that after I posted. hahaha

yea the undies... that's pretty freaky, i mean come on...
however if you can make money on like a cheap 3 dollar pair why not, i mean of course if you don't mind some dude wearing them, or wacking off to them, while smelling it, i mean tell you the truth if it were my panties, and i knew that some dude whom i don't know is doing that... i'd be just tinsy bit uncomfortable
