What is the industry standard for DVD creation?

I know there are a coupla people here who make DVD's for some production company. I am just curious, what is industry standard for DVD creation?

What do you mean by "industry standard"? Like the programming language? the replicationg process? the authoring software? please be a little more specific.

Most of the companies (what few of them there are) use extremely propreitery software that they make in-house. it is usually bundled with compression and quality assurance capabilities, also... of course in seprate modules...
