Okay, i have no idea what's wrong. When I go to the disc info and tools menu of NTI to see the info about the disc, and I have any kind of blank CD in the drive, it recognizes it as empty. It just started doing this when I upgraded to Win2k. Any ideas???

It recognizes the drive as empty, causing it to prompt me to insert a blank CD-R into the drive, even though there is already one in there.

Chosenfool,

I remember reading that the adaptec drivers are not supposed to be installed on W2K, and if I remember right it was on the adaptec site...

no, you can go ahead and install the aspi layer, as long as it is the most current one.

It might also just be a driver issue for the chipset. if you use a via based board, make sure you are using the most current 4 in 1 drivers, especially since older ones sometimes broke in win2k.
