from a friend in NY...:

I was listening to the radio today and they passed on a story about the mayor of NYC. aparently he was strolling down the street in a tuxedo. When asked why he was wearing that he replied, "I have been honored with a great distinction" Or something along those lines. He told a story of a woman about to get married, was not going to cancel her wedding. However, her father was one of the firefighters missing. She was upset because she had no one to walk her down the aisle. Mayor Giulliani said something along the lines of "It would honor me if I could walk you down the aisle. Just name the time and place and I will be there."

Where I heard this story I almost broke into tears. If my girlfriend wasn't there beside me already in tears, I probably would have.

correction to this report....
the fireman was killed in the line of duty prior to last tuesday.

Ok here is the real story, he talked about it during one of his press conferences.

A friend of his who was a firefighter died prior to last tuesday, and at the wake his wife asked Giulliani if he could walk his daughter down the Isle.. and he said yes, unfortunately the daughters grandfather who was also a firefighter (i think) died of a heart attack, and her brother died while fighting a fire... all in 2 weeks time.. so Giulliani said i'll be damned if i let this poor girl cancel her wedding because she has no one to walk her down the Isle and he left after the press conference to walk the girl down the Isle... i always liked Giulliani :)

I don't care who he sleeps with, I know him as a great mayor, and I am not only talking during the crisis time. Out of all 4 candidates to NYC mayor, I don't see anyone who could replace Guliani.

Same in this case Guilliani is a great mayor, and i would love to have him for another term, he has never failed NYC and made it a better and a safer place in my oppinion.

well, some people do care about who he sleeps with...(not voicing my personal opinions, but I understand where they're coming from).

When a person's a great leader, they expect them to be a leader in all aspects - including personal - lives.

I'm think that's a valid argument...

and from my personal preferences....Burzhui, was Clinon ever a good president??? :)

Well, by saying that a great leader can't sleep around, you discount a ton of "great leaders" in American history. Ben Franklin? Slept around. Thomas Jefferson? Slept around. JFK? Are you kidding me?

The only thing that's changed in past years is the media and their distortion and over zealous coverage. It sucks.

Clinon no, but i think that Clinton was :D

Plus what do you mean a great leader in every aspect?
YOu mean Thou shalt not commit adultery?
Well that's religion, it's not a law... he didn't break a law did he?

In any case see TheBlueGuy's post

He is a great person, really!! The Happy Squirrel I am 100% with you on that one! Last Tuesday I was nervious and kind of panicing, until i heard his confedent voice. He said that everything will be alright and will get our City back. And you know what, I believe him!

He is not an angel but a great leader. Fire fighter commitioners are usually great leaders, but noone expects them to play piano just as great.
