Ok so I run my virus scan, and it's telling me to quarantine the virus in the vault..except everytime I go to DO that it's telling me that the C:\RESTORE\TEMP etc file cant be moved..I can't even find this file on a search..this totally sucks..what can I do to get rid of this? (Ps..the only mail I got today was from Jenny so Jen if you see this you better run a scan)

if you are unwilling to practice safe email... then GET RID OF OUTLOOK...
as to cleaning instructions, they dont have any yet, but if you read the virus report, you should be able to piece together what to do

At work I disabled IIS.
Then I deleted Admin.dll from C:\ and D:\
Delete anything with an eml extension (desktop.eml and readme.eml).
Search for any file containing the text "readme.exe". Delete and restore the files (that will take some work).
Good luck on the Regediting I haven't done that yet.

Is Norton Ghost actually worth it? I picked up a copy of Norton System works the other day but there were two versions, one with ghost and one without it, since there was a relatively large difference in price I skimped and got the version without ghost.

One other "cost" of Norton Ghost is a spare hard drive (or perhaps a spare partition of equal size, but this could be more vulnerable).

You might wanna give McAfee a shot... they have a new patch out.
BTW, this is the reason I have Norton Ghost watchin' my back... If I get infected by one of these rampant "cyber viruses"... poof, pow, begone... restore the system and be back and up in less than 30 minutes.
After you get your system fixed, I would "highly" recommend scoring a copy of Norton Ghost to protect you in the future. (Also a good virus program like McAfee Viruscan doesn't hurt either).
Good luck!
Thank you loads. I'll have to check into it. I actually went to McAffee and ran their online thingy-and it wouldnt remove the files when the scan was done. Kept telling me I couldn't access them. But I actually re-downloaded AVG and for some reason that wiped them right out. My regular AVG scan wouldnt access them either-nor would it update from the version I had installed. Maybe thats part of the virus, i dunno. All I know is it's taken care of...
So how does this ghost thing work? I know it takes an image of your drive, but do you have to burn it onto a cd or what?

Most of these viruses depend on MAPI aware clients, of which Outlook Express is the most common. Even if you dont use it, it's there. Removing mapi through is quite difficult... thats why I am also a firm believer in webmail...

Hey I tried to use ghost once to back up an image of my laptop drive. Didn't work. I am so frustrated. Any help is appreciated. I even got that adapter to to try to attach the laptop drive to the desktop.
