i foken hate XP's start menu. I'm gonna dread the day we have to start doing OEM pre-installs on it.

I'll be changing everyone back to the "regular" windoz look.

Well the option of mine is the halfway look, halfway between the start menu of old and the start menu of new. I like it myself, it grows on you after a while.

I don't know about the SN thing, but you have to activate windows within 30 days. You can do it right away or wait and it will bug you about it. You can do it by phone or you can do it online. Takes 30 seconds to do.

I know the illegal copies out there are the "corporate version" ones. That version does not require activation because it will only be sold to corporations which usually do serv3er installs that way they don't have to activate on every machine.

Just click the "x" on the top right of the folders box. That will go away and you will have the "web view". To get folders back, click the folders button on the menu. Ya, I know that's probably not what you were thinking, but that is what THAT is called in XP.

thank you, my question has been answered :naughty:

So tell me is it worth upgrading to XP (from 2000) or no

i think it's worth the up grade, it seems a heck of a lot more stable then ME...which is what i replaced.

I second that, XP hasn't crashed once ever since I installed it (3 weeks ago I think) which is just simply amazing. What's more amazing is that I was running a lot of my stuff with the Win ME drivers and they all worked fine. Definitely worth the upgrade, especially for free.:)

I have been forced to reboot about 2x a week due to drivers and updates, but it seems to run fine, I think it may hog resources more than 2k, but i dont notice since i have 512, MY ONLY GRIPE IS THE GREEN START BUTTON, I want a diff color

A couple issues I have found.

1. Sometimes after exiting q3 the computer will completely freeze requiring a reboot.

2. Sometimes after exiting return to castle wolfenstein the system will hang for a few seconds.

ill go with ya on the hang deal, but never crashes or locks, it is just returning to the xp resolution... SOME IT student you are.
