tell me not to look just so i'll be sure to look...

well, it's all true. but i draw my "don't hurt living things" line somewhere in the mammal range. i stomp bugs and i hook fish.

okay, wait a minnit. on second glance, they are saying stupid stuff:

fish flesh contains excessive amounts of protein, fat, and cholesterol.

excessive? fish is so damned good for you it's not even funny (minus the toxins, of course...)

Fishing rules, and although i don't eat the fish that i catch, don't ask it's a mental thing i guess, i give it to my folks who munch on it... in any case i think it's one of the most relaxing things a person can do... although it's great for bonding

If you follow PETA's extreme ridiculous "logic" to a logical conclusion, we'd all starve, because no food is safe or "ethical". Plants can contain dangerous toxic levels. Eating plants deprives animals of food. Etc...etc...etc...

Or top right.

I'm wondering why they put that hook in that dog's mouth and hurt him to prove a point about fish. Bastards.

Heehee, its funny seeing the dog with a hook in his mouth.
What's with PETA anyway? They are so weird. I mean I believe in protecting wildlife and animals, but there is NO WAY I'll be a vegetarian. Also, I think seafood tastes great! :D

Seafood rules, but i dunno PETA doesn't sem to concentrate on seafood that much... protect that shrimp, or that scallop has feelings too... i mean they know people would laugh even more at them

"Calling it 'nothing short of torture' animal rights groups, led by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals have mounted a campaign against the usual cooking method for lobsters: boiling them alive. Groups purchase several dozen lobsters at a time and air ship them to the East Coast where they are "liberated" into the Atlantic. As Portland, Me. columnist Bill Nemitz put it, a '$700 trip to the Twilight Zone.'

Animal rights advocate and actress Mary Tyler Moore recently offered $1000 to free a 16 lb. pet lobster named Spike from a Malibu resaurant. Talk show host Rush Limbaugh later offered $2000 to eat it. Spike lives on in Malibu however.

Greg Griffen, lobstering out of Cape Elizabeth, Me. for 32 years said: 'Rest assured , if the shoe was on the other foot, Mr. Lobster wouldn't hesitate to dine on your pancreas... Corn has feelings too, doesn't it? It gets chopped by the thresher, too. And when we cut the grass, we chop through the grasshoppers. We are becoming so civilized, we are losing sight of the realities of life.'"

1996 "Actress and animal-rights activist Mary Tyler Moore takes out an ad in the Rockland, Maine, Courier Gazette (just in time for the city's big Lobster Festival) stating that lobsters, "like humans, . . . flirt with one another and have even been seen walking 'claw in claw.'"

Hey baby wanna see my claw :naughty:

This is my lobster.... Manfred. Alas, he is no more. :(

"Manfred died about a week after his favorite clam went in when his chute didn't open. They both will be sorely missed. To keep alive his memory, his story is told below:

He made a daring escape from a local supermarket about a couple of years ago and has been shacking up here ever since...or at least until he died. I figured that since we were living together that it would be cool to give him a page of his own. Now that he's dead though...he does smell a bit funny.

Don't have much to say...the loss is still fresh, but i will tell you about some of Manfred's favorite things, as he would've wanted it that way:

Manfred was a simple lobster, a humble lobster.....perhaps even a lobster for all seasons. He enjoyed skydiving and flying....the occasional canoe trip, and fish. lots and lots of fish. and beer. yes, lots and lots of beer."

Here's to you Manfred!

I hate to say it, but "ditto." that was pretty damn funny.

I used to cook about 40-50 lobsters a night, but I used to kill them right before I cooked 'em. It does tend to skeeve you out after a while, whack job or not.

Why would you kill em?? i mean if you kill em they can't scream when you drop them in boiling water.

How did you kill em by the way?
Was it the old: :smash:

because when you have several to cook, placing them in a steamer can be problematic when there are other things in the steamer.

Or was it the old: :johnwoo2: large pointy knife in the head, then slice down the middle, open it up and clean out innards. like i said, it got rather gross after a while.

not that i've done it in exactly the same context, but i'd have to agree that disemboweling crustaceans is somehow much nastier than doing it to mammals. they're just so alien...
