today in my chemistry class i turned a penny into a silver penny than into a gold penny :D it was so fun :)

than i found out it was really only brass :(

electroplating, right? or did you just drop it into a solution, and it did it automatically?

i did some electroplating at home once, to put a nice new finish on an antique doorknob. got somethin reversed, tho, and wound up taking a layer off rather than putting a layer of metal on... got it right the second time, tho. it was cool.

nah none of that hard stuff...it's only zinc + sodium hydroxide than heat it up till it bubbles than put penny in

it'll become silver
than when it's entirely coated u pass it over back and forth over a bunsen burner :D
cuz the zinc and the copper react etc.

but was kool when we made it...i think everyone should do it at least once.....it's very fun

but than there is this one guy in my class he made a silver penny and passed it off as a dime i thought that it was a bad thing to do....*sigh* teenagers :disa:
