May I recommend downloading this multiplayer test. It's the coolest FPS out there if you ask me, it'll be bigger than counterstrike -
http://www.activision.com/games/wolfenstein/

Download it now and have fun.

I'm writing to see if any of may suggest some help for me. I was playing the game fine for a few days when all the sudden I get this error when I start it up. it's won't load now at all. Is it something on their software conflicting or my problem? And how may I remedy it? They offer no help. Thanks! As always you're a helpful lott.

Here is the "error"

I installed the Castle Wolfenstein Demo and it worked fine. I am not sure if you had a conflict or an error installing. Try re-installing it again or maybe getting latest drivers for GFX Card? As far as being bigger than counter-strike....The game IS cool, but the feel of the game just isn't as great as counter-strike. Don't get me wrong, its fun, but it's not the BEST FPS. I think the 1 player game part will be awesome though.

First I uninstalled the game, then reinstalled it. Then I Updated all my drivers. Then Deleted all my Video Card Files and whatnot, restarted, and reinstalled, then restarted, all get me nothing. What blows is I was playing fine before today! So why all the sudden does this **** happen I wonder. Thanks Anyway =-

The videocard file wasn't found.
System specs please.

I am using a PIII 500 mhz, 320 mg ram, 3DProphet 4000XT 32 meg. Win 98.

I stated on another forum that it looks like it's looking for "3dfxvgl.dll" which i think was associated with my old card, a Vodoo3. What made it change? There is of course, no more Vodoo on this PC nor any of the associated files or drivers.

This is sort of strange. RtCW was running fine and now its not. What could have changed in the last few days that makes this happen? :hmm:

Lets go through the trouble shooting process.

For those who don't know the 3DProphet 4000XT 32 meg is a Kyro 2 (http://us.hercules.com/products/product.php3?id=22). Are you using the latest videocard drivers AWM?
http://us.hercules.com/support/byprod.php3
http://www.powervr.com/Downloads.asp

You do have an opengl32.dll in your windows/system folder? The only opengl32 driver you need should be in the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and its by microsoft. 3dfx labels some of its minigl drivers the same damn thing. So check to see who makes the opengl32.dll file.

When you change from one line of videocard to another old drivers can be left behind AWM. Even when you use a videocards uninstaller, drivers and registry entries can be left behind. It sounds like there may be old 3dfx drivers hanging around. And perhaps there is something lingering in the registry? So I would do a search for 3dfx drivers and files and get rid of them.

What I would do is carefully go through the registery and delete 3dfx and voodoo entries.

RtCW uses a 100% fully OpenGLŪ compliant 3-D video card and doesn't come with any of those frigging 3dfx minigl drivers.

Hercules has its own forum: http://forum.hercules.com/

One final thing: Castle Wolfenstein Demo is still a demo so it bugs and whatnot should be expected (although this doesn't sound like a bug).

I got that very same error when i try to run the game ..

I run WinME, p3 1gig, Geforce2 PRO (from Guillemot same as AWM's), 400something mb ram ...

I doubt its one of the openGL drivers since i play CS 24/7 and that works just fine ... i tried fiddling with the drivers and then CS even stopped working .. so i reinstalled the drivers and CS works again .. but Wolf. doesnt ... i use the detonator XP latest drivers so that shouldnt be the problem either ...

Weird thing is that the demo DOES work on my gf's cpu .. a mere p3 600, tnt2 and winME ...

Wolf. is no CS .. but its fun tho .. which i could get it to work on my own system and get some good fps

Help would be welcome indeed

ALright man, There are no files on my PC called "opengl32".

There are tons of files loosley labeled, 3dfx, in some way or another. Most reside in 3dfx folder in my windows/display file. I tried deleting them and nothing changed with Castle.

I updated the Kyro drivers. Nothing changed.

Suggestions from here?

What's that you say? Kick in my moniter? Sweet ass idea, that's next!!

Well first off ..

if you have the 3d Prophet i am not sure at all you should even HAVE 3dfx drivers to begin with ...

the opengl32.dll should indeed be in your windows/system dir .. mine are there ...

it just looks for that file and since it cant find it skips to look for a 3dfx driver .. since those 2 are the standard drivers for 3d games etc...

you might want to try and uninstall your card and drivers completly .. not just "reinstall" you drivers ... not that it did any good for me either ...

might be something with the Guillemot cards .. which would be totally weird .. but since we seem to be the only id**ts having problems with it and both our gfx cards seems to be from Hercules/Guillemot ...

Any other help? ;)

He should be able to extract the file from the Win98 cd.

Does anyone have "opengl32.dll" that you can send me a copy of. It's not on my win98 disc in any fashion. I have searched for it through Google, and looked through cnet.com. Can't find it as a stand alone file.

Please snd it to me, or if you want you can up it to my FTP. Thanks again, I don'twant to give up. I was the best medic that game has ever known!!

BTW, I did download a few software programs at about the time this started up on me. I have since deleted them...wonder if that has anythign to do with the problem...

Just put your win98 cd in and go to Start > Run and type sfc. It should check all of you system files and replace any that are corrupt or altered.

sbp,

I ran the check and it did restore 19 dll. But nothing has changed on Wolfenstein. Nice try though, thanks. :bawl:

Was opengl32.dll extracted?

If not send me your email address.

Hmmm that would be odd that if it ran fine before that its gone now ... maybe those few programs you uninstalled had something to do with it ..

nevertheless .. i still have the same problem and i DO have opengl32.dll file ...

ill try that sfc thingie .. i run winMe .. should give it a whirl and see if that fixes anything ... CS runs on opengl and works just fine ... So i have no bloody idea whats wrong on my system ...

i am open to suggestions as well ... coz playing it on my gf's p3 600 with a tnt2 isnt all that ... especially since i dont like the mouse on it *g*

Cheers
