Well, I've been waiting so long for this day, and it's finally happened. Yes, I'm talking about the series premiere of "Enterprise."

You see, us Calgarians (and Edmontonians I believe as well) are lucky, as a local TV station ran the pilot a day earlier than UPN.

Let me just say that I was VERY impressed with what I saw, and I think the series has great potential. The premiere ranked right up there for me with DS9 in its ability to hook me onto the series (something that Voyager couldn't do).

I was a tad skeptical of how this series would work (after all, it does take place before the other Star Treks), but now I'm convinced.

You guys are sure in for a treat on this one.

I for one really like DS9, it had the best character development of all the series. After the first few seasons, it got really good.

DS9 really picked up in the last few seasons.

Now in comparison Star Trek Voyager stayed mediocre. :disa:

I already told my boss that I will not be able to work past 7 today. Don't even think of getting between me and my TV. Nano, don't even think of stealing my TV untill tommorow. I can get another one for Friday's season premere of Dark Angel, if I have to.

I'll give you guys one warning: Beware the theme.

I seriously hope that it was a one-time use theme, since it doesn't quite fit Star Trek. It's not too bad itself, but I think it would have fit better with a non sci-fi show.

The Theme? There could be a problem here. Star Trek's draw, the one thing that made it truely special for all the years that it has been done is that the episodes were morality plays. It is not just entertainment. It is the framing of the culture that is the US. Other peoples have fables and songs. We have Star Trek. It was the time that we defined who we are as a people. We stopped being a mish mash of other nations and became one people.
It's our beliefs and goals, all wrapped up in one hour episodes. That's why it is so popular.
If the new series fails to live up to this tradition, it will fall by the wayside and die, no matter how entertaining it is.

Nonono, not the plot (which was excellent)... I'm referring to the intro music (the theme song).

It looks interesting, but do we need to keep track of yet another crew and another Enterprise (what, is that like a total of 6 now?)? Scott Bakula will be good in it though, I liked him in "Quantam Leap."

Is it on yet? I can't wait...

B5 was a good show. If you didn't watch the first season, you probably can't get into it. It builds too much on what happend before for someone to jump into the middle. Exellent series but it was not too popular because the viewer actualy had to THINK, God forbid...

no, it had a hard time because the first captain couldn't act his way out of a paper bag, and because J. S. whats his face is too inconsistant a writer. That first season had some really crappy episodes. It didnt' really get good till they got Sheridan. Then it was fine till the earth war, then it got all hokey crappy again. The sequal just plain sucked.

Well, I saw Enterprise tonight. I thought it was enjoyable for the most part. It was humorous to hear them refer to Klingons as unknown peoples, and they were wary of the teleporter too, thus using it only for cargo.

Captain Archer was a bit too abrasive for my liking at times. I also think that Ensign Sato is quite cute! :)

I bet Lt. Commander "Trip" enjoyed being in there too... He's a "cowboy" and all, but from now on, I think I am gonna call him "Woody".

I noticed the "woody" thing too in that one shot... lol.

I liked the show for the most part, but c'mon, Scott Bakula? Gimmie a break.

How very interesting. That was my favorite part too. That Vulcan seemed to be very perky, and any Trek educated person knows I am not talking about a personality trait. :naughty: :D

Seems to be, but maybe it is a trend. You can't tell me that it wasn't the whole purpose for 7 of 9 on Voyager. ;)

9 was the accepted speed in the orignial series, and pretty much capped at 9.9 for the most part, with odd little exceptions that didnt' carry over from week to week. This beta Enterprise is a speed demon of it's time, but is darn slow compared to 'current' ships.

never heard the number 13 but they CAN go just about anywhere through those transwarp conduits in a very short amount of time. Tom from Voyager did get the Delta Flyer to Warp 10 in one episode, it caused him to evolve in fast forward. According to that episode, going at warp 10 means you occupy every space in the universe at the same time.
