yeah...don't suck.
Seriously, don't get too bogged down in details. Figure out what your target audience wants and go with it. One PC is more consumer oriented, so think about what Joe Average wants to know, not what the HardOCP crowd does.
We have a bit more of a mix here between average users and hardcore, so we walk a bit finer a line, but if you keep within what say, 90 percent of your readership wants, you'll be fine.

and don't try to be funny, especially if you're not funny. use humor sparingly, or you just come off like an unprofessional dipwad... i've seen way too many sites where the writers are so impressed with themselves that it just gets in the way of the actual topic at hand. it's annoying and i just want to kick em in the shins...

Joe, my only advice:
"They're" /= "their" /= "there" -- use the right one where appropriate!
"it's" (it is) /= "its"
"you're" /= "your", but both = "yer"
and start your writing in a program that'll check spelling for you -- e-mail, word processor or something. stupid stuff like this makes geeks like me happy :)
have fun and don't neglect your full-time responsibilities. i don't know how lpm and jim are able to post the tomes they do. me, i can barely manage a blurb here and there. some folks just manage their time pretty damn well, i ain't one of 'em.
oh, always make fun of the other editors. it's cute.

I don't know about Jim, but I just compose it the night before now. For the weekend, if I have time I whip something up. If I'm awake, it usually only takes an hour. Composing at night saves time in some ways, but it takes me longer because of the distractions of family.
