Star testing is dumb. The lower the students scores are, the more funding we get from the state. If we get high scores though, houses in our area raise in value because people think better scores translate into a better school. :confused:

i care. here's my rant:

i always score 99th percentile straight across all the rows on every one of these stupid standardized tests, and it AIN'T cuz i know **** from shinola. it's because i have a very narrow and useless talent: i am good at figuring out which answer is supposed to be the right one. very few tests are written well enough that you cannot decipher the correct answer by the arrangement and wording of the multiple choice answers.

for example: have a very brief conversation with me about american history, you'll quickly see i know squat (going to middle school and part of high school outside the usa will do that to you.) i still score in the 99th percentile on the stupid state achievement tests. even more amusing, ask me anything about them contraptions called "cars." i'm car-stupid. if you told me to replace my blinker fluid, i'd spend hours looking for it. dint stop me from scoring in the 90-somethingth percentile on the armed services vocational aptitude battery. they spent years trying to recruit me to be a mechanic.

it's like being able to play a video game really well. i have the mental equivalent of fast thumbs. whoopee. so i got a lot of scholarships and honors and crap - some i earned, a lot i dint. a numerological analasis of your middle name is probably a better determinant of intelligence than an SAT score.

my sister sucks at standardized tests. she's smarter than me. she works harder. she is a very effective and professional person. she got squat for scholarships.

i guess it's not a totally inappropriate way to prepare for life in corporate america, tho...

SAT is pretty well-written, so it doesn't work as well. i scored a 1380, which was in the 90s of percentiles, but i don't think the 99th... you take em this year, right?

I'm gonna be taking one on Nov. 3 and another one at the end of the year. Gotta do good to make up for my crappy gpa (2.9). :banghead: Why oh why did I have to screw around freshman and sophomore year?
