I need to check if my wiring inside the apartment is properly grounded. I have a feeling that it is, but I have no idea as how to go about checking if there are any problems with the wiring and such. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Can I just use a multimeter???

You should be able to test for ground with a multimeter (probably if you read about 120 between hot and ground). (I have one of those plug-in testers that show if there are any problems.) It is easy to test for the presence of a ground, but the problem is that it is rather difficult to test the QUALITY of a ground (i.e., how much load it can actually take).
