...do scorpions count? I found one on my floor this morning. poor critter didnt last long though.
personally, i would vote for a little dog, thats doesnt shed much, isn't purebred, and is very inactive, adn doesnt back except once every week or so.
my friend has a dog like that (only slow cause he's sooo old). only drawback is it has loong hair, but it doesnt shed too much. He just kinda hobbles around the house and waits to be petted. if you dont pet him, he'll hobble over to the next person in the room. (i think he has arthiritis).

Since you didn't include "fish" as a poll category, I guess you don't consider them "pets" huh? BOOO!!!!!
Woah... DF, I am your new best friend! What kinda fish you got in there? FW, SW, brackish, reef?

I had africans for a while, until they started getting obnoxious and I gave them away. How many gallons do you have sitting around? As soon as I move I'm going to set up a 100+ SW tank - if I can afford it. I'll post some pics of my fish later. I have some whoppers you could throw on the grill - that is, if they didn't attack you with their poisonous spines when you were trying to catch them.

Don't have pets right now, but used to have a lot of dogs when I was little.

I have a nice stuffed animal...
Well it is a Taz, more a cartoon character than an animal.
I can't have pets anymore. They could never be as cool as my cat was 19 years ago. No other pet could live up to the expectation and would be a disapointment. It wouldn't be fair to submit an animal to that.

Yea unfortunately I could only put four options :(
I myself have 2 dogs, a cat and a bird. I used to have a hamster and 2 rabbits. Not all at the same time though. And this is the first time I have had more than one dog.
my cat...UNDERPANTS!!!
I'll have to see if I can get a pic of the lady in action up here...

My "big tank" is 125 gallons, then I have a 75 gallon, a 56 column, a 29 gallon, two twenty gallons, and two ten gallons.
Currently I am selling my previous 55 gallon (which had to go to make space for the 125)... I just wish I had room to keep it since it would make an excellent "fry tank".
BTW, there are many different kinds of Africans. You probably had some of the "meaner" Mbunas like Psuedotropheus Zebra or Fulleborni. Those guys are mean as fire, however they are usually the "cheapest and most colorful" ones that you can buy... as a beginner.
I bought my Mom some Africans for Christmas last year, however in order to put a bunch in her 75 gallon tank, I stocked up on Pseudos. When they are young, you can get them for as little as $3.99 each (which is cheap considering that many of my Peacocks go for about $50 each). The down side is... as they they get older they beat the living crap outta each other unless you put in some kind of "rock work caves" and crowd them in... That is, you shouldn't keep less than 15 - 20 Pseudos in a 55 gallon aquarium... which also means that you gotta have REALLY GOOD filtration as well!
Either way, I love my Africans to death. They are quiet, don't eat much and provide plenty of "stress relief". The only downside is that whenever I have to go out of town for more than 3 days, I have to have someone feed them, or they turn into "cannibals" and kill off each other... just like in the wild. And believe me, that's not a good thing, especially like what happened at Christmas 3 years ago where I lost about $400 worth of fish to "cannibalism"... pretty expensive dinner I must say!
Yeah I had some cheap cichlids in a 20-long. Actually, they weren't that cheap at about $10 a piece when they were 2 inches long. I had a Mel. Auratus that was very beautiful until it started maturing. Eventually I got bored with the cichlids. Right now I have some silver scats that are amazing. They were $26 fish, but they were on sale at Petco for $12.99, and I had a "buy one get one free" coupon off the back of a plastic plant box, so I ended up with four for the price of one. They were barely bigger than quarters when I got them, and now the female are about 5-6 inches long, and the males are about 3. Luckily I got two males and two females and they get along very well, although no fry. I keep them in weak brackish water with 3 bala cats, white-tipped shark cats, or whatever common name you want to call them. They are about 6 inches each. Right now they're all crammed in a 37gal tank until I move and get something bigger. I also have the following disassembled tanks (gave away the fish when i moved a month ago; I'm in a temp place now, plan to move again as soon as i find a job): an 18gal show tank with black seals and and Eclipse Twin lamp hood, a 20-long which I will probably sell, a neat-o 7gal bow front tank, and a stand that will hold a 45gal tall tank - my ex roommate's ex boyfriend broke the tank and then gave me the stand.

I was into aquariums during my high school days, but I left it behind when I left for college. I really enjoyed them (even bred some betas). Since I lived in Florida, I had dreams of setting up a salt water tank, getting some kind of slurp gun, and heading down to the keys to see what I could catch. I also thought having sea horses in a tank would be cool.

I have 2 cats and then 2 fish, a snail, and a plec in a 5.5 gal. tank. Oh, hey, DF, I called one of the petstores here and they are going to let me bring in the plec and trade it for a smaller one! w00t! lol
