About 2-5 times a day, for a span of 30 seconds, it seems as if someone else has taken over my mouse. If I move the mouse during this time, it'll start clicking everywhere, resizing windows, closing programs, and causing general mayhem.

Since it only lasts for such a short amount time, I can't run over and get tech support.

So what's the problemo? Is it the mouse, the PC, bad feng shui? Please help. :(

Try a new mouse, or clean your mouse ball.

Heehee, I don't know about that one. I'd try getting the mouse cleaned. That's usually the case. Or replacing the mouse. It could be the cord too.

Do a complete system scan. Maybe you have some funky virus.

I have seen that on several systems. It is probably a bad mouse.

Thanks guys, for the helpful suggestions. :D

topane - When it acts up like this, I have to clean the mouse ball 3-5 times a day.

Leon - I did a complete system scan, and I'm clean.

Regarding a new mouse, I'm also running a FileMaker server in my cube so I switched my mouse with that one, which functions FINE. Same problem. :(

So I guess I'll ask tech support for a new mouse and hope for the best!

1)It might be related to the mouse. Bad mouse.
2)Maybe virus. Scan Virus
3)Standby mode not working or cannot suspend. Try disable all the power management to None.

I am not sure if it help, did you try with other mouses?

Cheers!

Could be a problem w/the connector on the box itself

Well fellas, tech support gave me another mouse! *shows it off to ooh's and ahh's* You may start placing bets on how long THIS mouse will last! :P

If this one starts wigging out too, then that's THREE mice in a row, and, like topane said, the problem isn't the mouse.

chosen - I've tried the Windows "reboot till it works" method, but it just made the mouse jumpy MORE often. :(
