I'm sitting right in front of a window watching the D.P.W. cut down a beautiful tree in front of my neighbors house. This thing is as old as the hills, has been here as long as I can remember and is ususally the first to change colors in the fall(bright red),And the first to produce shade in the neighborhood in the spring. It's a healthy tree, home to tons of little furry animals and birds enflight to the south. I remember the kids used to play in that tree-the "perfect treehouse tree" they used to say, as they would sit up in it and play spy, or adventurers all day long. The reason the tree is being cut down? Because the dipsh*t neighbor has a feud going with the black family who lives next door,he complained about their grass being too high(which it wasn't)and they retaliated by calling the city and making a report to code enforcement that the tree was buckling the sidwalk and their old gramma fell on it and got hurt. (The side walk was built to encorporate the bulk of the roots and make a slight incline, but in no way was it buckling). The city came to look at the tree-made the guy dig the sidewalk up to replace it with a flat(no incline) one, which he is doing-but he is such a load that when he blasted the sidewalk apart with the jackhammer-he also jackhammered out some of the roots. Now the tree is a danger area since there is no sidewalk in yet, and they are afraid that due to root damage the tree is gonna come crashing down on someone. Poor squirrels. Where they gonna go?

stupid neighbors. you never have to worry about squirrels tho. they'll probly take to nesting inside the buttheads' roof. :D if it does look like they are displaced, just put up a birdhouse with an extra-large hole.

If you really want to move the squirrels, get one of those have-a-heart traps, catch them, then take them to some trees and let them go.

Well, it is touching to want to see them have a happy home, and I'm all for that. Beleive me, I do not like to see Tree's cut down for any reason, and now that they are displacing the poor squirrels... all I know is if those little Bastards (or the little chipmunks they hang out with) build a home in my heatin/air conditioning unit again next year they're gonna have more issues than just looking for trees!

If there are squirrels living near you looking for a home:
BE AFRAID!! BE VERY AFRAID!!

Something you should definately do is let your "neighbor" know how you feel. His whining removed some of the beauty from your life. It reduced the quality of your life. Let him know how long that tree has been there. Longer than he has been alive, most likely.
He obviously has no respect for nature and you should make everyone in the neighborhood aware of that.

When I first saw the topic, I was thinking, "Throw them in your pants for a fun time!". But now I would have to agree with an earlier post and say get a big birdhouse and drill a bigger whole.

Much happier home to...cuz it looks like they have windows. No place to put their food though. :(

I would never encourage squirrels (homeless or not) to live hear my home. Providing a cute little house for them might seem like a nice thing to do, but if they end up causing $1000's of damage to your roof, their "cuteness" will quickly diminish.
