1. get a babysitter for evilgremlin

2. go jam on your fiddle with your guitar-playin and banjo pickin buddies and let them tell you how much butt you kick

3. go listen to some professionals burn down the trailer park with some of the best bluegrass you've ever heard

4. realize that the mandolin is a really cool instrument that you already know how to play if you can play a fiddle and a guitar

5. drink a lot of beer

6. go out for a burrito bigger than your head

7. go drink and jam some more

8. go home at 430 am and turn on your computer

9. find an $800 value mandolin on ebay for ONLY $369 + $18 shipping

10. yahoo-chat with a certain guitar player who thinks a mandolin is a good idea... :hmm: *cough* mojo *cough*

11. hit "buy it now" before you sober up

anyway, i'm excited. my new baby will be here in a week or so, and then i'll be able to burn down the trailer park eight ways to sunday... :D

as soon as i buy the shoulder strap, the case, the chord book, the play-along cd, the finger-picks... :heh:

i justify it in that i had exactly $371 in my paypal account as a result of selling useless crap on ebay out of my parents' basement. that is free money, and free money demands to be squandered! :D

Whew! When I read the title I was afraid you might have had a bit TOO good a time last night! ;) But at least you're coming out of it with a mandolin. I think they're kind of cool, too. But the only think I can get near any kind of sound out of is a trombone (not much of it left in me -- I think my 5th grade boy can do better than me now) and harmonica (blues harp).

NICE WELFARE!!!
so you got up your nerves (or drank enough) to go up and burn down the trailer with your fiddle!!!! WOOHOO!!! YOU GO!!! :):heh:

yeah, if you got the fiddle & guitar down, mandolin is EASY to pick up. I'm sure you'll have fun with it, though I would've opted for a mandolin/guitar double neck thingy :)

nah, not on stage. just hung out at a friend's apt and jammed, annoying his neighbors, i'm sure, and then went to watch others perform. we may get our butts on stage in a few weeks.

wait a secont heyahhh....

$400 and nary a tattoo?

$400 and not a stripper in sight?

$400 and you woke up in your own bed?

$400 and not so much as a piercing, bar fight, public display of nudity or a ruined pair of shoes?!

Welfare, I'm sorely disappointed :disa:

But enjoy your new toy, nonetheless :thumb: I'm hoping that someone antes up and gives "us" a bass & amp for the wedding :)

edit: cuz "site" just ain't a replacement for "sight." doh!

Such a sentence is clear indication that we are living in post-apocalyptic times.

WRONG!!

Post-apocalyptic times would dictate a preference for harps. :D
