can somebody who has this phone give me some feedback?
How is the Verizon service in NYC? How much was the cheapest Motorola V60C in NYC?

Many thanks in advance.

I've had a pretty bad response with that phone. Granted, it has the 'cool' factor, it has some issues as it's currently in it's first generation and is still getting some bugs worked out.

Gripes:

Antenna breaks
The aluminum is of the phone is slippery
Gets very hot

Give it another month or so before a new software revision comes out and the prices drops a little bit.

How much did you end up paying for the phone?
Was the service good for NYC (if you used it for NYC)?

Verizon tests each phone for at least 2 months before releasing it... those problems are motorola specialities :-) Have you ever felt how hot those startacs get? 've also gone through 6 antennae in 1 year on my 7868. Nonetheless, I want the V60, but the Verizon people here in Socal told me that they're coming out with a whole host of phones in the next 4 months, including some models that will suppor the 1x system, as well as most likely colour screen japanese-style phones. So, nonetheless, as I miss my J-Phone, i will wait for a japanese style phone to come out...

Victor,

What is the 1x system that you mentioned in your post? Also how much do they estimate that these new Japanses phones will cost?

Thanks in advance.

how about the LG TM510's ?

they look similar in size, and have that caller id thing on the outside like the motorola v60.....
seems cool, and cheaper too....

The lg tm510s are good, but it's kind of bulky. When you see the V60C, you'll want it. Trust me. It's a sweet phone!

To anyone living in NYC:

Do you know any cell phone store that will sell the V60c phone for less than $338 ?

Just got my Motorola v.60t (AT&T Version) today. It's pretty nifty. Still going through all the menus and functions. I still think the Nokia interface is a lot more intuitive.

I just got the LG, IMHO its not that bulky compared to the motorolla. Especially when you consider the price difference. I got the LG for $79 versus over $300 for the motorolla. I also personally like the feedback on the LG buttons over the motorolla, but thats personal preference.

LG did a really good job with the TM-510. Definitely another good option versus the v60. I'm with AT&T so we haven't had a decent flip phone for a long time.

Freakinfreak,

I just got my AT&T version of the v60 as well. Do you happen to know if they sell the slim lithium ion battery for this model? I noticed that it was slightly thicker than the v60c version.

Much thanks buddy.

Yes, the slim lithium ion is available for this phone. However, I think you're better off staying with the extended assuming that you got the external speakerphone like I did. That sucker drains battery like there is no tomorrow.

If you need new activation, just try any electronics store down around Chinatown.

They often will sell phones (w/ new activation) for really cheap (man, they lower their profit margins down to next-to-nothing to get that contract).

I think you can try Hyper Wireless (http://www.hyperwireless.com) as an example. I'm not affiliated with them at all, but am looking at them.

Or, post in "Need Deals".

Good luck!

I am interested in upgrading my piece o' crap Goldstar TM-510. I am also going to be getting a Toshiba Pocket PC for work. Is there any Verizon phone that combines Pocket PC with a cell phone?

Thanks. Oh yeah and post pics of these phones you speak of, if you have a chance.

The Audiovox Thera is a PocketPC and Verizon phone. I used it for about a week. If you use your phone any amount of time, this is NOT the phone for you. The Thera would die in less than 8 hours with minimal talktime.

I envy the handset, I don't envy the service. As much as I want a cool phone, my first priority is to actually have a phone, not a paperweight.....in other words, SPCS takes monkeys..and blows them hard.

Sad fact is that RF on LGs and Samsungs suck. So, more often than not, it's a Korean Paperweight. I wouldn't touch a korean phone until their RF engineers get retrained. It took Sanyo a while to fix theirs, but they got it down. I just wish the koreans would do the same.....*sigh*
