I'm considering getting the RioVolt (SP100). Reviews on amazon said the player is solid, but rather the sound output was weak. Does anyone have this player? How well does it read cd-r's? Any opinions are much appreciated.

i know the riovolt is a handheld player...but if you're thinking qabout looking into an indash option for a car, i highly suggest the jvc kd-sh99 (i think that's the model) i have it and love it.

a friend of mine has the crappy handheld genica one from compgeeks and he loves it...might be worth looking into.

I've been interested in replacing this, and I've seen some that also has vcd out on it tooo...that looked interesting, but haven't really acted on it.

jeez...everybody is killin my suggestions

i was goin on second hand info on the genica thing...glad someone pointed out that it sucks

as for the indash for a car...sorry twilight, but the jvc rocks...and it's brushed aluminum and looks dayem cool. it has a 24bit d/a converter...insanity i tell you...regular cds sound so amazing on it. it's truly a fine piece of technology..not knocking the aiwa...but i think the jvc is in another league.

www.iriver.com check em out, they got the best one out there, they're the makers of the original rio volt and now they're comin out with a second version with all sorts of nifty features. A bit on the expensive side, and you might have to import one from Korea but in the end it'll be the same price as the Rio Volt 2 cuz they include the backlit remote. I highly recommend this product, here's a review: http://hardware.dmusic.com/reviews/iriver_2/

How do you like that Rio?

I suggested the Rio to a friend a few months ago because I found a good deal, but he was adamant about getting the Soul DMP-01 because it has upgradeable "firmware" or whatnot.

Rio also has an upgradable firmware, except that SonicBlue seldom releases them. I believe that the AVC soul base units were also made by iriver. I'm ordering an Iriver2 this week as soon as i get another 50 bucks. YAY!!
