View Full Version : New Problem: New Monitor is freaking out on me!

Ok, I just finished fixing my ICS problem and now I have a new one.

I just replaced my monitor to a NEC A95F. I have a Prophet II MX video card.

Problem: I setup the monitor and everything was ok at first. Once I changed to a higher resolution the display area is awkard. All four sides at the corners are curving inward. First I thought it was a monitor problem, but it's OK in DOS mode and it's OK when I uninstall the video card drivers. But once I install the Prophet drivers it gets weird on me. I installed the sole Nvidia drivers and I've tried a lower version of the Prophet drivers, but no change.

Has ANYONE had the same problem???

Anyone have any ideas? This is ridiculous because I just replaced a bad Samsung monitor to get this one and now this.

Hercules tech support is closed during the weekend and NEC tech support doesn't know what to do at the moment especially since I figured out it's a video card problem. It has something to do with the drivers and signalling.

Ok, I can't believe that I just fixed it. It was a refresh problem. It was at optimimum but I changed it to adapter default and now it's ok. Any ideas why it's like that?

Sounds like the refresh rate is set too high or something.

Appearantly it was a refresh rate problem. How can it be too high... is it because of the adapter not being able to handle it or is it the monitor. This monitor is suppsed to support 76hz @ 1600x1200...

the monitor should have controls on it for correcting image distortions, read the manual.

That was the first thing I did. The screen distortion was way beyond the scopes of the controls. It was a refresh rate problem, but like I said, this monitor is supposed to support 1024x768 at 85Hz w/o problem and it can't go higher than 60Hz no matter what resolution.

the DAC is probably defective. Can you return it?
