View Full Version : Name Change Policy
Some people have requested name changes or alterations. Personally, I don't mind, but it has the potential to get out of hand. Here's what I'm going to do. You will get two chances to change your handle.
The first name change is after 500 posts. This is because 500 posts means that you have been around and are probably going to stick around, so it's worth my time. The second and last name change comes after 1500 posts. That's it, no more after that. This is not cumulative. If you have 1500 posts and have never changed your name, you don't get to do it twice. Thanks!

Absolutely nothing, but generally, being a FOB is nothing to be proud of, and just making sure that Sir_Froggy realized what his named might imply.:D

It would imply that you're fresh off the boat and you dress in Polo, Tommy, and Nautica but dress without style, and have funky colored hair:).
Thats just sterotype of course...

COULD YOU BE ANY MORE OF AN IDIOT? I'm PROUD to be the GRANDDAUGHTER of 4 F.O.Bs ...My family came to this LAND OF OPPORTUNITY looking for happiness and freedom and they FOUND IT. They busted their asses and made a good living for themselves doing things the NON-FOB'S wouldnt do, and ended up with a far better life than most. Not only did they raise their children with good work ethics, they became well known in the community for their generousness to their church, city and friends. My grandfather became a well known stone mason in the Scranton area and was later requested to build the Shrine and 80% of the Stone work at ST.ANN'S BASILICA in Scranton Pennsylvania, which if you don't know is a NATIONAL SHRINE.

and the later additions to KILMER MANSION In Binghamton New York.
http://www.tier.net/templeconcord/images/kilmer.gif
which was home to the Dr.Kilmer of the FAMOUS Swamp Root Cure.
He did this along with his F.O.B sons and his F.O.B brothers...And these were only TWO of well known achievements. My uncles (who were F.O.B served in U.S. wars, defending this country, as did my father, father in law,and various cousins-all for the sake of freedom, and defending the land that took them in when they had nothing but themselves to offer.
So you when you come to grips with what a F.O.B is exactly, without offending people in your own little sick way-I suggest you study more about the history of THIS COUNTRY. You'll learn that MOST people here were F.O.B at one time or another.
Now stop pissing people off and go play in traffic.

As for bein' a FOB, it has special and wonderful connotations within the Asian community (especially among us 3rd and 4th generation-ers). Especially reviled are the parachute kids, who are set up in 7000 sf houses or 2 million dollar downtown condos, roll in click 430's with custom paint and dubs, and apparently devote most of their time trying to get the highest score among their friends on Snake on their phones.
That's a fob. If you ain't a fob, you got nothin' to worry about. It has nothing to do with just being a new immigrant, it has to do with acting and living a certain way that rubs children of immigrants the wrong way.

Calm down please, the FOB comment was not meant to be derragatory so please don't insult me. Far as I'm concerned, the term FOB was dubbed especially for them rich Asians that came off the boat i.e. the explanation about dressing horribly in polo, nautica, Tommy and the such. I have nothing against Asians, and pennypinch did a good job explaining the sterotypical FOB. In fact, I've never seen or heard anything mentioned with FOB without that Asian connotation. Its a joke, it has nothing to do with immigrants from however many years ago. It has to do with mainly teenagers from in the last 20 years coming off the boat and as pennypinch put it nicely, "roll in click 430's with custom paint and dubs, and apparently devote most of their time trying to get the highest score among their friends on Snake on their phones. "
I guess the joke kind of missed the mark...
Edited for obvious typographical errors

Hey obby, calm down. Name Removed is a (racial term removed due to Name Removed request) himself:). Get over it. It's no big deal, just because you took the term the wrong way.
Sorry about that Name Removed
