Phone Problem

I would post this under Hardware, but that forum is generally related to Computer problems.
My phone has a humm in the background. It started about 5 days ago. I have one of the newer telephone boxes outside where everything hooks up. I tested a non-cordless phone outside at the box and there is no humm. I checked various phones on every line(3) inside and I get the hummm regardless of the type of phone I use.
Other than the humm, the connection seems OK. What could be causing this?

damn it i had this for like a month in a half then it just went away, i think it's caused by crossing of some wires.. call your phone company tell em to fix that sh1t

i kinda got that - it's the attached answering machine with mine. it also picks up radio on the phone when talking. very weird. pretty sure i just need to replace the whole thing.

I had that hum too last year, so I bought a new phone form Office Max with a $30 rebate.
