does anyone have experience with web enabled cell phones?
Qualcomm QCP-860 or Samsung SCH-850 or something else?
Any deals out there?
Anyone tried the MSN Mobile thing? Its free but you need a web enabled cell phone..

I've been using the Ericsson R280LX for AT&T Wireless Services. The coverage is a bit spotty. It has been getting better though. The biggest perk is the fact that internet access is free and unlimited. Any other service provider that offers internet access bills you for the airtime that you're online. This can eat up your minutes VERY quickly.

Oh yeah... The Ericsson R280LX is a pretty good buy with new service. It retails for $99.99 and has a $50 rebate so that brings the cost down to $49.99. But I could probably hook some things up. =)

yea i'm thinkin about the new ericsson too.. especially since they revamped the northeast area & its huuuge now.. covers everything i want.. i have a sprint phone now.. sanyo scp-4000 & its a great phone.. coverage depends one where you are.. most big cities have very strong signals but when you get out, better stay near a major highway for a good signal.. menu's on most other phones annoy me but this one is awesome.. all sprint phones are web-enabled.. and have the same browser.. sprint has $50 rebate too.. plus $25 for ordering on the web.. sundial.com has a $100 rebate for certain carriers..

well i work for Qualcomm and so far the only phones i have seen at work with the web ability is the thin phone (qcp860). wait till the summer is over. we're comin out with a new phone. it will have the size of the thin phone but also have a built in palm V.im waiting for this one to come out!!

ok. what kind of options do these phones really offer? I mean if its just prechosen shopping options that seem pretty lame. I mean no phones have true www browser capabilities, so it seems pointless.

the wireless browsers have 'abridged' websites similar to those available on palm devices.. but no graphics.. news, sports, stocks, weather are some basics you can get.. dunno how shopping works but i wouldn't trust it.. no encryption.. email send/receive is additional on at&t.. it will be awhile before they have the bandwidth for 'real' browsing or even half-decent w/ graphics.. sprint rebate is on sprintpcs.com or you should be getting a form with any phone..

The SCH-850 is a great phone (voice activated dialing, built-in scheduler, and more). I've got a StarTAC 7760, but I'd drop it for a SCH-850 in a heartbeat if it were available with MCI service.
