Well I've been looking for a good online bank checking account lately so that I can transfer all my money there. Anyone here uses online banking? I found www.netbank.com and it looks quite decent. So... any recommendations? Thanks for your time and as an incentive for helping me you can look at a smiley that has nothing to do with this post:

I recommend you figure out a way to get into the local credit union. A not-for-profit business is better to deal with as a customer than a for-profit business. Where do you think their profits come from?

I have a Netbank money market account. Their banking services are ok--not terrific...not horrible. My major problems with Netbank are that deposits by mail take too long (a little more than a week), their 888 number is sometimes busy, your account statements aren't mailed, archives of your previous statements aren't available to you online, and your web login is disable if there is no account activity for a few months.

IMO, it's better to just open an account with a local bank that has online options such as Washington Mutual (my primary bank).

hmm thanks guys I guess I wouldn't open an online account, maybe use the Bank of America online options. I suddenly realized the problem of depositing cash... how would that be done? Anyways, thanks and here's another smiley as a reward:

Washington Mutual (wamu.com) offers free checking and also free online banking. I use them and I check my account online and you can transfer between your accounts if you'd like. It's cool, it's simple, I like them.

Yeah on WAMU. They kick ass. Everything is free and their online services are cool. B of A sux. I had a checking account with them and wanted to deposit $3000 in cash and I wanted to gon inside cuz I didnt want to put that much money into a machine. They told me I would have to pay a fee for talking to a teller cuz my account with them was set up to only have ATM access. I asked if they would wave that fee and the branch manager said that she would not. I asked if there was a fee to close my account and she said that there was not. I told her to give me my F'n money, walked next door to WAMU, and have been happy ever since.

recommendations well noted, I shall go with WAMU, but I'm not sure if there's a branch near me. I went to Gomez.com and B of A is rated number 3, weird eh? Thanks for all the help guys, here's another smiley:
