Ahhh... Columbus day...

Should we go slaughter some Native Americans in rememberance of the ocation? Maybe a little more biological warfare on them?

Columbus has the distinction of being the 2nd white man to "discover" the New World. Why don't we honor the first? The Viking who decided NOT to slaughter, enslave, persicute, rob, or deprive of their religious freedom?

Oh, Happy Columbus day to you too...

Do Latin Americans feel such angst about what their ancestors did to the indigenous people who were already here? Columbus has much more to do with them than this country.

he tried and failed. a band of natives scared the poop out of his men, and it took a viking WOMAN to save their butts and scare off the natives. their settlement on north america failed, mostly because the vikings were notouriously bad at adapting native ways of food procurement and shelter construction to their own use... you can't build a croft and plant wheat in north america, you gotta go out and club you some baby seals if you wanna eat and stay warm, but they mechanically went about doing things the icelandic way until they were so miserable that the survivors packed up and went home. same thing happened to their settlement in greenland, 'cept without survivors.

like anyone wanted to know that...
