Wait which one was Fuchigi Yuugi?? I'm not sure. But I remember Yu Yu Hakusho. One of my friends during freshman year college watched it religiously, and boy did I make fun of him for it. No offense to you guys, but personally, I never understood anyone over 18 who watched TV Anime series. I'll admit there are the really exceptionally good ones and then you have the remaining 99% of them which look and sound like they were designed for kindergarteners. I'm not just judging them from their covers. I've watched many many of them myself, and they're good for a while, but after you reach a ceratin point around puberty, they're just not interesting anymore. I'll watch some of them just for the humor (Kareshi Kanojo no Shojo) and some for their relatively good artwork (Cowboy Bebop), but I gotta say that the rest of them....They really fit the description, "made for TV." I'm not saying that they're really bad and people who watch them are silly. It's just that personally, as a person who grew up with anime since I was a baby, I have grown to have ridiculously high standards when it comes to Anime now(in terms of artwork, storylines, meaning, etc.). That's why I usually stick to feature films (Miyazaki Hayao, Isao Takahata, Hiroyuki Yamaga, etc...

Sorry, psycho. I feel like I've crapped on your thread. I didn't mean to offend anyone. Hopefully you'll won't take it too personally.

BTW, it's Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou.

You are right,as I am relatively picky, so I do not watch alot of series myself. Also, please note that i didn't say that I liked watching this particular series.

A general rule of thumb is that if the series is under 400 dollars, and some people like it, sometimes I give it a chance and just acquire it. But, in sheer truthfulness, I have more of a tendancy to put DVDs aside still wrapped in their cellophane since I'm always too busy to even watch TV in the first place.

I've grown up watching anime since I was a kid too. I sometimes even get picky if they show subtitles. I always nitpick at poor chinese or english translations.

Dont' worry, I don't think you probaly know what I do or what I like based on just a few lines. I bet you never knew I spend 2 months a year in asia. This year, I'm nearly spending 1/3 the year in asia. The time is usually split between Japan (friends), Taiwan (family and friends), and hong Kong (shopping). To say I haven't grown up watching and reading this stuff is a slight understatment.

But, if you have had such exposure, you should know that particular series are aimed at particular age groups. And, knowing that, you can base your assessment appropriately. YYH and FY was aimed at girls, while Cowboy Bebop, Boys Be and the likes of Love Hina was aimed at the male audience of a range of ages.

But, of course then you know KKNJ was aimed at teenage girls....

But, beyond that, never understate the power of pickin' up chicks that way.

And of course, Sen To Chihiro no Kamikakushi was great this past summer.
