I use Renu MultiPlus, but I heard there is a kind out that cleans without rubbing. Anyone ever use it? I'm sick of having that 'boulder on my eyeball feeling" .......What kind of solution do you use? I'm allergic to Opti-free, I used it once and it swelled my eyes up like oranges almost immediately.

I use "Quick Care", I think it's by Ciba vision. You do have to rub cleaning solution on, but you only have to soak the lenses for a few minutes before they're ready to wear again. Good especially if you forget to clean the lenses at night.

I'm partial to the Boston Advance solutions, but I've got rigid lenses. I imagine that Boston makes other kinds of solutions.

that's the stuff i use, opti free express, no rub. it seems to work pretty well. although, i'm not very good at taking my lenses out every night.
also, i have disposables, so i gotta throw em out every 2 weeks anyway, so i'm not sure how well that solution works past 2-3 weeks.

at least that is what I am using. It is supposed to remove the proteins - you know, the gunk the fuzzy tablets remove. I have been using it for a few months now, and it really does make a difference
Whoops sorry - I just saw the link above...... I can vouch for it working well for the disposables lenses older than 2 weeks - mine are about 6 mos. old and are still OK. (Hey, I have problems getting to the eye doctor)

I use the no rub Express stuff and it's great, I guess. I've never used anything besides the optifree line. I always wear my 2 week disposables for about 3 months because I think there's some sort of conspiracy goin' on. I also dont refill my case with new cleaning fluid everyday. Usually, I'll let the same stuff sit in for at least a week.

Hmm. Sounds familiar to your toothbrushing schedule. :hmm: You know, there's a reason for changing that stuff. Ever get any kind of nasty eye infections? No? Well, not yet at least....

We usually get lenses for my son from LensCrafters. They will pricematch an ad that you bring in, so I just do a bit of searching on the net. Last time we got Acuvue 2 for $16.25/box(6).

Costco is cheaper. I pay $14.50 for a box of 6.

I still think the contact lens companies are just banding together to sell 2 week contacts as "daily disposables" so people will buy more. I've been using contacts for over 2 years using my method and not one eye infection. :)

I rarely change the solution too, maybe 2 or 3 times a week at most. I use the Alcon stuff, came in a huge bottle that's lasted me about 6 months now. Oblie, try out the Bausch and Lomb ones they're pretty good too. Oh yeah, I used to know this girl back in my old school and she would put her contact lens in her mouth if she's in PE running or something. While we're at the subject, ever licked someone's eyeball? OOr have someone lick yours? It's the weirdest feeling in the world.
yeah my cousin said he puts his contacts in spit if he's somewhere where there's no solution around. gag. i guess it doesn't matter really. i mean its better than water. and its not gonna make you sick anyway.
i change solutions depending on whats on sale. i don't notice a difference at all between diff brands. i dont have probs with my contacts.. so i dunno. i can keep them in for days at a time and they dont feel bad or fog up or anything. some people i know can't even take a 30 min nap in them.

What sucks is if you wear gas permeable (hard) lenses like I do. They do not sell large bottles of the solution like they do for soft lenses. I'll sell a gigantic bottle of soft lens solution at Costco for like $10. The hard lens solution comes in a twin pack with itty-bitty bottles for $16. Now is that fair?

yea, i'd never put my contacts on my mouth, not that it's not clean, but i think water is cleaner...i suppose.
oh yea, and how do you know how licking your eyeball?

But you can't use water to wash your contacts because when you do, your contacts become super soft and won't stay semi-firm and upright when you try to put them in your eye.

I have been getting my solutions (Boston Advance) at my previous eye doctor's. The optician adjacent sold a combination kit (1 oz. cleaner, 4 oz. conditioner, and 6 weeks of enzyme cleaner) for $7 or $8. (Most places charge $6 - $7 for just the cleaner or conditioner.) However, last time I called, they weren't carrying them any more. :(

I just use Opti-free

Oblong, i guess being alergic to opti-free doesn't help with using the no-rub stuffs....
as for me...
I have had both soft & hard....
from my soft days - disposable...I did what Passwird does....and I agree with you, they are doing some kinda of conspiracy....
I used 1 month disposables for 2 months, doing the enzymatic cleaner after one month..
but I've used a pair till they started turning yellow ;) :)
And about putting it into your mouth..eh....I've done it, skiing, when there was nothin around, I was at the top of the hill, and i didn't want to melt the snow or anything....so, i just stuck it in my mouth...
it worked, but it kinda stung when i put it back in...(enzymes in the spit break down food right?, can't be good for your eyeball).
Right now I have hard and I've had these for over 2 years now. And because soft lens solutions were cheaper, I've been regularly using soft solution on my hard contacts....I've experienced no ill effects..
so, right now, I'm using this orange bottle, not sure what it is..
I've also used the bouche&Lombe spray bottles...I always thought those were great because I kinda figured that the power of the spray would be good enough so i don't have to rub....well, not like i rub anything anyways (or use those special conditioning solutions or whatever you're supposed to use for hard lenses, though now they have all in one solutions).
oh, and if you use those special solutions and stuff....you're actually supposed to rinse your contacts with water...
And actually when I have contact problems, I always use water to wet my contacts before putting them back on (away from house & solution). I think water feels refreshing on my eyes...
now here's a question, do you use contacts when you swim in the pool (with the chlorine)???
I do....not supposed to from my eye doctors, but eh....I'm ok

Yeah... I play water polo with mine in. Just gotta make sure they get dried out from the chlorine so they stick to my eyes.
