I have a question. I am considering spending thanksgiving with my SIL who lives in Vegas, but I don't want to sleep at her house. (too much family time if you know what I mean!) What I thought we would do is spend a few days at our timeshare in St. George and then drive to Vegas Thursday and stay until Friday. Can you recommend a good not too expensive hotel/casino that I wouldn't be afraid to take my kids to? Or, will I even be able to get a reservation for Thanksgiving? TIA, Kim :D

My favorite is Sam's Town, it is off the strip (it's on Nellis). The kids like Excalabur (sp) and Circus Circus (but I don't like that one, you get what you pay for...)

I posted a deal called Vacations that had a few deals. There are a lot to be found here right now. Our "high rollers" from overseas are not comming back yet and the city is loosing $30 mil a day. (wow)

I don't think we'll be staying at the Venitian, lol. As for St. George, lets just say that it is 40 degrees here, and 75 degrees there. Plus, we can take the new jeep off roading, or do some golfing. ;)

Aaaaawwwwww, no Venitian? How about Bellagio? :heh: I dunno, I always like to stay at expensive hotels in Vegas cuz I don't gamble. And I like to be pampered by the hotel staff :P
I don't know, I still think St George is lame...:P But that's because a few years ago, I spent the summer there and all I did was watch movies...I problaby watched movies every day almost, for two whole months!! YICKES!

Well, if you don't gamble (mesquite) or golf or sun worship, St. George is kind of lame. Our timeshare condo has a pool, spa, and gym, so that makes it kind of nice. Plus, there is a nifty day spa not too far away! I can't wait to get out of this cold....

What were you doing in St. George?

I like the Luxor and the Mandalay Bay. The Luxor is relatively cheap, $59 a night last time I was there. Really cool inside too. Just make sure to get a room in the pyramid if you go. The MB is a little mroe expensive, but tropical themed and they have an awesome array of pools.

I asked myself that question over and over when I was there :P heehee.
Actually I dated a girl from there, so for my summer, I spent it there with her...now I'm dating her again :P Thankfully, she in LA now PHEEWWW! :D

I hear St. George has changed a lot though. More things have come to town. But there's no BEACH!!!

Compared to the part of Utah that I'm from, St. George is the big city, lol! :D

HEY EVERYBODY!!! I'm going on thanksgiving too and I've founs some good deals on these following hotels. Please share your opinions and tell me which one you'd recommend... thanks

1. Stratosphere
2. Imperial Palace Hotel

which one would provide a cooler, more memorable experieince? :D Oh, and how much would you think Blue Man Group ticket's would be around Thanksgiving??

chrissy

Blue man group is normally around $100 a ticket

I would go for the Stratosphere.

http://www.showvegas.com/ has them listed as $82.50 right now for November.

Another site is http://www.ilovelasvegas.com/ for prices and deals.

Also, if you are looking for 2 for 1 deals,
http://www.shareasale.com/m-redirec...llink=&afftrack has a coupon book where you get a lot of buffets or shows 2 for one. There are a couple of hotel deals too.

http://www.tripreservations.com some good deals for hotel and air packages. From STL to LV for 5 days on the strip including airfare is $99-139!

(3rd link supports GGD :) )

yup thanks crabbie!! I was leaning towards the Stratosphere myself...I got the hotel deals from tripreservations.com after checking out your post in the gotdeals forum. It's great!! Anyway, $89 for BMG isn't bad at all. I'll check it out. Thanks again.

Hey, as long as you're at the Statosphere, go to the top and ride the Big Shot. It's a real rush! :)

I disagree with many of the recommendations. I almost always choose location over other factors when looking at a vegas hotel. The imperial palace iss right accross the strip from caesars palace and next to the venetion, while the stratosphere is a nice drive away from the 'happenning' part of the strip. The holiday inn boardwalk is next to NY NY and is cheap as nuts (which is damn cheap).

Very true, but as for ucbstan, transportation is really cheap (and can be free between certain hotels/casinos) and he said those two, :) and as for Kim, I wouldn't take my kids to boardwalk... too many weirdos there...

It's ok, we're driving there from LA so we have a car, AND the surprising thing is the stratosphere is almost half as cheap as the Holiday Inn Boardwalk for two nights during thanksgiving break. After searching deal sites, the HI came out to over $200 (even rooms without a "Boardwalk View") and the Stratosphere was a little over $100 for the two nights. Wierd, I too would have thought that the Holiday Inn would be cheaper....oh well...

OH OH!! and Blue Man Group is only $85 per person EVEN during thanksgiving break!! I've been waiting soooo long to see this. And since my friends are driving me there and I saved on Plane fare, I'm gonna treat my friends to the show. Boy are they gonna love it!!

wrong dude. I'm gonna pay $255 to see it. I'm going with two friends. I hope it's as good as people say it is. If it isn't, I'll just have my friends reimburse me. :D

$85? I saw $82.50 in November... Is there a handling fee?

And speaking of tickets, Oct. 20th, going to see Wayne Newton at the Stardust :D

Free tickets :) I love you Wayne!

hehe
