Ever hear a commercial where it is obvious that the writer didn't have a clue? Here are a couple of examples I remember:

- A radio commercial for a local casino paints a picture of a guy laying a bet on his favorite "hard 8" at the craps table. He throws the dice (and it is like everything is in slow motion). The first 4 sticks. The second die teeters between 4 and its "dreadful neighbor" 3. BZZZZT!!! Wrong! Anybody that knows anyting about dice knows that the numbers on opposite sides always total 7. Therefore 3 is the one number that is NOT a "neighbor" of 4.

- A radio commercial for backup power systems is giving all the reasons you need to have one. The background sound is the "tick-tock" of an old mechanical alarm clock. As the verbage comes to a place that says "when the power goes out", the tick-tock stops. BZZZZZT!!! Wrong! A mechanical alarm clock keeps on ticking when the power goes out.

Any more good examples?

Pretty much all of them. I have a tendancy to tune them out entirely.

The writers for the latest Jack in the Crack commercial must have been given 15 seconds to write it.

Say no to fake shakes ...

I keep hearing a radio comercial for something located in historical <insert city name>.... it should be historic.

Thats one that really grates on my nerves.

Also, I watched 'The Net' a couple months ago. They traced this evil guy's IP address and one of the octets was 300 and something. Sheesh.

Hahaha, that's exactly what I thought of when i saw the title of this thread. I usually like Jack commercials too. At least the more recent ones.

This may not qualify as a factual error in a commercial, but I want to know who exactly it was that told the Carl's Jr. advertising team it was OK to put microphones inside the digestive organs of human beings and let them eat food on TV. "If it doesn't get all over the place, it doesn't belong in your"......give me a f**k*n break. It doesn't belong in a commerical - that's for d*** sure.
And then you have these models on TV who are chomping that sh** down - wtf is that. What'd they have to substitute the meat for to get that to go over. That's probably more calories than those guys are allowed to eat in an entire month.

Here's one that really pisses me off; it's a commercial for goldfish crackers and the little song goes like this "here's a jingle for goldfish, our jingle for goldfish, the wholesome snack that smiles back until you bite their heads off" how sick is that??? that commercial got me off those crackers forever...
