PC133 SDRAM - 168 pins. Is rated to run at 133Mhz. Used in i815, KT133, KT133a and some DDR motherboards have the option of running it also.
DDR RAM - 184 pins. Two flavors PC1600 (essentially PC200) and PC2100 (essentially PC266) Is used on DDR motherboards such as the AMD761 chipset, SiS735, KT266, and KT266a....I don't know what intel boards use this...I know there are some but I don't remember which one.
RDRAM (Rambus) - Come in two flavors PC600 and PC800. Used exclusively for Intel stuff.
If you want to go with AMD, then DDR is the way to go. It looks like the KT266A has taken the performance crown as far as chipsets go. And the Shuttle AK31 rev 3.1 looks like a really good board to go with. Another one is the ECS K7S5A which is based on the SiS735 chipset.
As far as Intel offerings go....you'll have to ask someone else....I don't know much about what Intel has to offer.
Heres a nice little FAQ from Crucial. Click here -----> memory (http://www.crucial.com/library/)

Well, in order to know which ram is right for you, you need to figure out what is compatable with your system...
you can have the fastest ram in the world, but it won't do you any good if you can't use it.

the p4 now supports DDR ram, and PC World did a review comparing the speed of a P4 system equipped with RDRAM and DDR RAM, DDR RAM beats the RDRAM in all the tests except for one where the RDRAM and DDR performed equally.

That's interesting sho.gun, cuz I remember seeing on the SiSoft memory benchmarks that RDRAM is faster than DDR... hehe, of course, SiSoft has never been one for real world benchmarks... hehe
