10/11/01 New York Mayor Rudy Guiliani was escorting two Saudi princes through the wreckage of the World Trade Center. Prince Alwaleed bin Talal presented the Mayor with a check for $10 million. He made all the right sounds, clucked sympathetically for America's victimhood, and then said, "At times like this one, we must address some of the issues that led to such a criminal attack. I believe the government of the United States of America should re-examine its policies and adopt a more balanced stance towards the Palestinian cause." What did the Mayor of New York say? "Here's your check back." Way to go Rudy! Made America proud!

One of the New york papers had the Headline SHOVE IT as their main headline. I saw it a few minutes ago when I took my morning walk. I'm not sure which new york paper it was though.

Yeesh. Regardless of whether the message was thought-provoking or not, what a lack of taste and tact! Jebus, talk about bad timing...

The problem I see with this is that Rudy implicitly (although I really don't see another principled way he could have handled this) reinforces the idea that our Middle Eastern public policy is bulletproof. It isn't. But kudos for showing these guys that there is still such a thing as manners.

I think Hillary is going to have a run for her money for that Senate seat. Actualy I don't think she will have a chance.

Nah, I think in 4 years, they're going to dredge up his less-than-glorious past, and liberal New Yorkers will take a "what have you done for me lately" attitude.

Have we all forgotten him trying to ban art exhibits and such? Don't get me wrong, I think he's done a superb job during this crisis, but on a day-to-day basis, he wasn't that great, folks.

Don't get too worked up Burzhui, keep in mind penny lives in LA...what would he know about NYC anyway? I'll tell you this much, when I was in upstate NY, i heard 10 times more things about Rudy than I hear about the mayor here in LA. to prove my point, I don't even know who the mayor of LA is. AND I LIVE HERE!
