I loved that movie. The Drill Sergeant played by R. Lee Ermey was great!

Great flic . . . every once in a while when I'm bored at work, I will go on to the IMDB and read through some of the "memorable quotes" from the movie.

http://us.imdb.com/Quotes?0093058

Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, Drill Instructor: "Are you quitting on me?! Well, are you?! Then quit, you slimy ****ing walrus-looking piece of ****! Get the **** off of my obstacle! Get the **** down off of my obstacle! Now! Move it! I'm going to rip your balls off, so you cannot contaminate the rest of the world! I will motivate you, Private Pyle, if it short-dicks every cannibal on the Congo!"

This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.
My rifle, without me is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will...

Is it just me or is this, coming from Burzhui, just plain scary?

I do like this movie. However, I really like Hamburger Hill more.

Yeah Lee Ermey was actually a real drill sergeant. I heard him once say that was the main reason why he got the role.

A bit closer Grimm. It's "This is my rifle this is my gun, this is for fighting this is for fun".

And hells yeah I watched that movie!!! The week before I went into the Army, I watched that movie like 8 times. I used it to prepare me for what I might be in store for. Since I was expecting Full Metal Jacket boot camp, the real boot camp was a piece of cake. Only one blanket party though :shake:

Vincent DeNofrio(sp?) played Private Pyle.

Some favorite quotes:

Private Joker on his role in Vietnam:

"I wanted to meet interesting and stimulating people of an ancient culture, and kill them. I wanted to be the first kid on my block to get a confirmed kill."

Drill Sergeant Hartman:

"[I]'m gonna give you three seconds--exactly three fu**ing seconds--to wipe that stupid lookin' grin off your face, or I will gouge out your eyeballs and skull fu** you!" :heh:

Drill Sgt. Hartman: How tall are you, private?
Cowboy: Sir, five foot, nine, sir!
Drill Sgt. Hartman: Five foot, nine, I didn't know they stacked sh** that high!

:)
