Grr... I remember seeing a review on the Radeon 7500 earlier, but I can't remember where. It compared the 7500 to 64 meg Radeon DDR, GeForce 2 Pro, GeForce 2 gts (I think), and a GeForce 3....

but, if anyone can't remember the link, I think the Radeon only fell behing the GeForce 2's in 16 bit performance... and it started beating them out in higher resolutions...

as for the prices, I haven't checked them lately...

yeah true that
radeon 7500 is in comparison with geforce2 pro and a bit better
radeon 8500 is up hitting it with geforce3 and geforce3 TI...for the money I'd get a radeon 8500 mango.

Both are good cards.

The Radeon 7500 is the 0.15µ version Radeon clocked at high speeds {290 Mhz core and 230 Mhz DDR memory}. As MusashiM stated the Radeon doesn't do as well in 16-bit performance as the GeForce 2 Pro. But who plays in 16-bit color anymore? :heh:

In 32-bit color performance and high resolutions the Radeon 7500 competes quite well against the GeForce 2 Pro. The GeForce 2 Pro is being replaced by the GeForce 2 Ti which has a higher core speed which really doesn't affect scores. The drivers for both cards are nice and stable. Most people say the Radeon has a richer picture.

WOW I just saw RADEON 8500 sell for 399 in CAD = 250ish in US.. DMAN THATS GOOD

but due to the fact that i have no job...

SBP I'm curious as to what you're really saying, all benchmarks that are out compare geforce 2 PRO to a radeon 7500.
A radeon 8500 is getting the same frames as a geforce3 TI, which in turn "blows" away geforce2's in FPS concerning benchmarking.

Don't screw those up, the 8500 is well above the geforce2's in performance and image quality.

I don't mean to put words in sbp's mouth, but what you have to remember is that these are two different class of cards. it is like Pentiums vs Athlons and celerons vs durons...

The 7500 is in the same class as the GeForce 2's
The 8500 is in the same class as the GeForce 3's
