I'm surprised that no one has mentioned yet the fact that Mayor Rudy was beknighted by England. They also bestowed honors on the fire and police commissioners of NYC.

He can't be fully knighted since he's not a British citizen, so he's some kinda honorary knight. Either way, it's cool for him.

This kinda gets me. All knightings are honorary aren't they? It's like "Here have a title", it's the same thing that "regular" knights get.

The same thing with doctors. They ger the Dr. in front of thir name by finishing a degree, they still have to get licenced to practice. Someone who gets an honorary degree still gets the Dr. but no licence to practice because they can't pass the tests.

All titles are honorary. Because, well, they are honors given to exceptional people.
