From Wired News:

"On its face, this language would allow a deliberate hack attack by a copyright owner against the system of someone who is infringing the copyright," Swire said.

how could they tell the difference between a downloaded mp3 and a song you copied from the disk you bought?

Don't worry. It's never gonna make it through. It's an invasion of privacy and will never pass.

I think it's a moot point. If you use any sort of encryption (like say, Win 2k's EFS), then their circumvention of said encryption would violate the DMCA. Also, a hacker could acquire a copyright and have free rein.

I really wonder what the application process is for RIAA employees, because most of them are dumber than a bag of hair.

The fact that someone even thought of this nonsense scares me.

It's really amazing. Congress is considering taking away our privacy rights and the RIAA is still concerned about MP3's. DUH??

ROFL! Nice phrase...a bag of hair. True.

I agree with you johnnymk, they've got their priorities mixed up. I can't believe they actualyl thought of this crap. Did they really believe they could hack into every computer in the world storing illegal MP3's? That would cost them more than if they just sat on it and forget about it. Stupid people, I'm telling you, the kill me. I hate stupid people. I just wanna kick 'em in the head...whoa...anger mamanagement. Sorry peeps.

I got a simple soulution for this problem, stop charging $14 for a CD and maybe people will start buying CD's again.

Thank you. Finally some sane words! I mean the CD itself costs like 20 cents and the rest goes to the record label and a little bit to the artist. Fuk that, I will never buy any more CDs at full price...oh wait, I don't do that already.

I hate them *******s. Technology is here, and its not going away. They need to realize that and embrace it.

Why won't someone send some anthrax to the studio empires behind the RIAA?
