i want to get a 17inch LCD....but dunt want to spend too much $$$.
On pricewatch, the cheapest one I see is the AOC LM700.
Is that monitor any good?
What is the difference between that and the good ones?
I have the AOC LM-500. it's the 15 inch version of the AOC LM-700 that you are looking at. I would've suggested the AOC LM-500 about a year or two ago, but i'm sure there are much better 17" monitors out there. what's the price of the AOC that you are looking at now? on dell, there are several 17" monitors that are running for as low as under $600 shipped. i think it's only planar tho, but i'd recommend that over the AOC. AOC tends to be a lower end monitor from my experience. they're the cheapest and i'd prolly buy the CRT monitors from AOC, but not the LCDs. I bought my current LCD by AOC, only because it was the cheapest LCD i found at the time.
some things to look for in the monitor specs: resolution and refresh rate. refresh rate is pretty important i think. i was running at 60hz for a while and the screen would blur when there was too much motion. so check those specs out. but as a final note, i would not recommend AOC LCDs. samsung, viewsonic and possibly planar would be my top choices.
