Switch Port Database

Does anyone know of a tool/app that will get the physical port number and the computer's address (MAC or IP) on the end of that wire. I want to create a text file with the port # --to--> MAC/IP.

It depends on the switch manufacturer - i.e., Cisco has CiscoWorks, HP has Openview, etc. They are usually very specific, so you can't use one mfr's software with a different mfr's switch.

Also, the software is pretty pricy. A full version is usually in the $20-30k range, although there is a scaled down version of CiscoWorks (CiscoWorks for Windows) that's about $2500.
