mmmmmmmmm, CORN!!!!!!!!!!! Don't get me wrong, I'm a big corn lover, but it's certainly not as versatile as the mighty POTATO. For instance, have you heard of the following corn dishes? Corn au gratin, mashed corn (outside of baby food aisle), baked corn with sour cream & chives, and hmm, what would be the corn equivalent of french fries?
In any language ... aardappel, pomme de terre, papa, kartoffel ... POTATO means :love2: ...

i've actually had corn au gratin... naaaaasty...
and if you take into account popcorn (i say =french fries) and all the things you can do with cornmeal, it is as versatile as the potato.
okay, not quite, but in the same category, definitely.

One thing about this. He was given a "cue card" that had the spelling p-o-t-a-t-o-e . I think it is the educators that need to be razzed more than Dan Quayle.
Eat more potatoes..........

He'll probably say "hash browns" now that I think about it, but it still isn't quite the same. :hihi:
How about corn salad??? I think not!
Thanks EsDeeloco!

It's my understanding that Potatoe is an old spelling of Potato.
It is more correct to use Potato, but you can spell it Potatoe if you are really old and hate new fangled things, like radio...

Oh man! Is that one of the old "Spud Guns"? We used to have them when we were kids. They were great! Of course, sometimes we wouldn't finish off our potatoes/ammunition, so we'd just put it away with the gun until next time. Unfortunately, next time might end up being a month or two later.
