Well, if you're worried about opening an anthrax-infected letter, you can protect yourself by ironing (http://news.excite.com/news/r/011017/09/odd-iron-dc) your mail before you open it. (The link says that ironing works much better than the microwave.)

I wonder if ironing will also destroy all the AOL CDs. :heh:

I wonder if they'll iron y mail at the dry-cleaners for the price of a shirt. You know, 2 for 99 cents. I don't get much mail so this wouldn't be too costly. hehe

I can't find the "Paper" setting on my iron. There is a linen, wool, polyester and several other settings, but no paper.

I hate ironing...do you think I could just throw it all in the dryer for awhile? :D

I think it would still be stupid. Envelopes aren't completely sealed. The bacteria should still be able to to leak out the sides.

My driver's license has a magnetic strip on it which has ??? info on it. As soon as I got it, I microwaved it. They have no business knowing additional information that's already on the license.

There was a picture of a "suspicious" package in this morning's newspaper. It's wrapped in crinkly brown-paper-bag material, the address was typed with an ancient typewriter (yes, the letters were misaligned), and there were bunches of stamps on it. In other words, it looked like it'd been mailed in 1956 and had just arrived today.

Call me silly, but if it were me, I'd try to make my package blend in with the others. :hmm:

excellent point. at the same time, harmless mail only comes in the movies. the rest of us get mail that we expect to bring untimely death...bills, junk mail, jury duty, dear john letters...
