Just 2 weeks ago, I bought my Dell Inspiron 8100. I received the laptop yesterday. And today I go onto the Dell site and find out my same EXACT laptop would've cost my $400+ less if I had just waited a couple of weeks

Well did you use your Amex Blue like Apex recommends?
Call them up and tell them. Dell has a 30 day price guarentee.

I'm sorry you bought a dell. I work as a computer technician on campus, and we buy optiplex models. They really suck if you ask me. The harddrives suck, and they are overly sensitive to power failure. We had an outage once, and in a lab of about 25 systems(5 optiplex gx110, 10 gateway e-4200, 8 misc older dell systems, and 2 apple) they 5 brand new optiplex GX110's died. The older ones were fine, but all the latest ones were toast. We also had several of the Quantum drives in the newer dells go out within the first 6 months.
I wouldnt wish a dell on anybody. Thats just my opinion though.
My view is build it yourself, or get a mac. If you need to go prebuilt, get a gateway over dell, or go mail order fom some smaller company.
It seems like dell tries to get the cheapest parts possible(makes sense) but at the same time, their quality slips.

Hey don't fret -
Like JPR said, just call Dell & they refund the difference on your credit card. Give it another week, though - you can only do one price adjustment, and it has to be within 30 days of purchase. Price could drop again!

Whoa ... I didn't know Dell had that 30 day price guarantee. Yeah I think I'll wait another week or so too see if the price drops even more. Thx all :)
