View Full Version : do you have a friend that...........................?
ok...i'm trying to keep a level head on this one, so i gotta ask around.
do you have one of those friends that always has bad stuff happen to them? and i don't mean like regular bad stuff....i mean bad stuff like BIG bad stuff. say...like...maybe one day this person has a horrible car accident which totals the car, then the next day this person has a personal attack, then the next day gets robbed...and so on. sometimes these things happen 2 or 3 in a single day! but overall this person seems fine when they talk about it. but this person always has something of this magnitude to share, and seems to draw some attention from it.
well, i have a friend like this. i'm not saying that this stuff never happened (i know at least 2 of the events had to happen)....but...i guess sometimes i wonder if she may somehow subconsciously attract trouble or do things in ways that aren't as careful as other people. kinda like in the way that we all say that we don't want to become like our parents, then catch ourselves doing things that we swore we would never do.
so back to the original question....do you have a friend like this? and what is your impression when talking to this person?

Well, I DID ...
She'd get herself into all sorts of scrapes that were ... avoidable by the average common-sense-possessing joe. It's as if she needed fodder for the water cooler. For example, a petite girl with a shiny new car should NOT pump gas in the middle of the night in a shady neighborhood. She should also not have three well-paying jobs and still bounce a check every other day. And she should not keep questionable bed partners and proceed to bitch about how "guys can't commit."
If I were to type out my true feelings, you'd see rows of asterisks. :D But for G-rated purposes, I wish that she'd clean up her act. She LIKES the attention she gets by putting herself in these awful situations because when I lived with her, she whined DAILY.

i have a friend who has terrible luck like that - and it's totally not her fault. she's extremely responsible and careful. she's a wonderful person. but she got oops-knocked up despite a properly used condom. she got hit by a car minding her own damned business and broke a bunch of vertebrae. she bounced back beautifully... and then got a staph infection in the damaged bone and damn near died and missed a semester of school. if our class was doing a lab assignment, it was always her papers that got pissed on by feral dogs while we took a lunch break (ahh, the joys of being a forestry major... :D ) etc. she buys a brand new car, it's a lemon. she gets an apartment, the one noisy butthead in the building lives right over her.
moral of the story: redheads are mutants, and god hates them all, almost as much as he abhors gays and ppl who eat shellfish.

Well, there are people who have been lucky enought to win the lottery multiple times, so why not someone with the opposite problem?

this is certainly a possibility. however, i was kinda wondering more about the peeps that seem to almost not feel like stuff is quite right without having something really bad draw attention to them.

i, too, HAD a friend who was like that.
but she was a BIG FAT lier.
she made up all these crazy stories about how horrible her life was, and i used to think that it was unlikely, but i didn't think anyone could make up the crap she was telling me. anyway, this girl was insane, she would never leave me alone, and i found out why! it was because she had no friends! she would lie to everyone, and then they would eventually find out and want to have nothing to do with this psychopath ever again! so she would just start on with someone new.
pfff. the thought of that girl makes me sick. :puke:

seems like the premise to unbreakable. Some are way unlucky ... some are the opposite

Yup there are MANY MANY of those who lie about incidents to attract attention, or even just out of HABIT!! They don't even know that they're doing it!! I've seen one guy like that but the rest are ALL women!! And all my guy friends have all been through at least a woman or two like that. They should all be sent to another planet for humanitiy's sake.
But then there are the people who actually do get into a lot of trouble. They are extremely unfortunate in millions of ways amd find themselves in a jam pretty much every opportunity they get. And some of these people absolutely hate themselves for it. All they do is whine and talk about their misfortunes when you talk with them on the phone or hang out with them. They are in constant depression. No matter how hard you try to understand that they were all accidents and there's no reason to blame your friend, it can get REALLY annoying. And it can REALLY get contagious. It makes everybody around those people depressed as well. I know it's not their fault, but damn....I hate those people.

oh n about the car thing...
my friend got hit by a car... it was sooooo funny.
I mean im not morbid or ne thing, it was just funny when he showed up to my door with a neckbrace.
Thankfully he wasnt hurt bad... the guy wasnt going fast: it was in a parking lot, and he wasnt hurt so i thought it was kinda funny when the guy hit him he got out of the car and told him "you dented my car you son of a b*tch"
So as long as its not serious... you might as well laugh and move on:D
