Okay, not me. My inlaws. Long story short. They took 10 days off, spent $3500 on tickets PLUS gas, rental cars, film (4 ready cameras), some new trip clothes, etc., supposed to sail off down the river tonight at 7:00. Steamboat company filed for bankruptcy this morning. Riverboat cruise was cancelled. $3500 nowhere to be seen as of this evening. They spent $240 on trip insurance, but nowhere in that did it mention bankruptcy.

Ouch. :(

If they used their credit card to pay for the trip tell them to file a dispute right away. They should be able to get their money back.

Yes file a dispute. If that doesn't work, lawsuit time.

Yikes!!! I thought that was the whole point of trip insurance! It's like selling home insurance without fire coverage. Or fire insurance that doesn't pay if your house burns down. They might want to look at that insurance company a little closer. Maybe contact the BBB.

The trip insurance was through the cruise company...
